What if talyiahs basic attacks did bonus magic damage when standing on worked ground

I think this would be a good solution to her lack of damage on worked ground while not changing her playstyle at all. It would help her in lane and team fight but wouldn't affect her playstyle elsewhere

I'd like to see more scaling movespeed (12-30% for instance) on worked ground and half CD refund on Q. This would make worked ground actually an area which is good in some situations and give her more options.

I think it would be unproblematic to just give her worked ground another strategic niche. Right now it is a low damage, high utility zone - they should just embrace this more to give her more strategic decision making as to when you should be where. Atm you just want to leave your worked ground as much as possible in nearly any situation.

while not changing her playstyle at all.

The entire point of worked ground is to make her want to roam to other lanes after she pushes the wave. Working ground is supposed to be a cost and making her stronger on it completely reverses that.

I definitely understand this - I don't think she needs to be stronger while on it but I think her ability could be affected differently by it.

Right now her Q does a lot of damage when not on worked ground, when on worked ground it does next to nothing. This creates a lot of problems for her in teamfights where she needs to move out of range or misposition in order to use her highest cooldown spell, which I don't think is a good thing.

I think she's a little more skirmishy than other mages, but she should still have a bit more damage. I think her Q on worked ground should be treated like a corki rocket. Off worked ground with would do normal damage x6 (I think these numbers are right) - totaling to around 490 damage (base). On worked ground rather than 140 base damage, it could, 225-250 and maybe have a slightly longer range or explosion radius.

It's still a weaker skill, you'll still paying for the extra movement speed (which is wonderful to kite over) but you also aren't taking as huge of a hit nor are you punished for maintaining your position.

Not really. The maximum possible damage for an unworked Q is 3 times a worked Q for double the mana, but that only happens if you land a full channel of five bolts. Before Rylai's it almost seems like you'd get more efficient damage out of worked Q's since you need to land 3 bolts to even match the efficiency of a worked Q.

what are you talking about

what are you talking about

Compare the damage and mana costs of worked Q vs. unworked Q.

Base damage + 40% AP per bolt Subsequent hits on the same target take only 50% damage per bolt Unworked Q gets 5 bolts at double the mana cost

So, to deal double the damage for double the mana cost, you need to land 3 bolts (100% damage + 2 x 50% damage) and the maximum possible efficiency is 5 bolts resulting in triple damage for double the mana cost, a 50% increase in mana efficiency.

But It's not really that easy to hit 4 or 5 bolts out of 5 for most of the game because there's a lot the enemy can do to get out of the way. Thus it isn't actually that easy to get much more damage per mana spent out of an unworked Q.

I don't know that I totally agree with accounting for reliability in the balancing of skills.

Maybe the numbers need to be tweaked, but between the scaling on her skill and the low base damage of the skill itself 1 charge isn't a lot of damage. I could see the trade off being doing what I suggested but at the same cost, you could even keep it as is, but just increase the AP ratio when it's on worked ground.

agreed that one bolt is sad as f***

It's not making her stronger. It's slightly compensation for the fact that it ruins her q damage.

would she be dealing any more damage than before? Even one point?

if so your statement is false.

this is false, she would have more AA damage

Rozair1 votes

while standing on ground that makes your q do less damage aa's would deal less than a volly of qs

Thanetiore1 votes

She is supposed to deal way less damage on her worked ground. Compensating that with damage wouldn't make sense, imo.

Considering the past of her development, they actually wanted to call it "exhausted ground", I think.

As I said, giving her a strong movement steroid on these fields would probably make a lot of sense - since she is a rock surfer anyway :D

Thanetiore1 votes

Btw: I would like it way better if the fields wouldn't fade from your vision when leaving them. Why did they implement this? Sometimes it's really hard to see in a teamfight or just in general which causes you to run in the wrong direction or step onto the field in just the wrong moment. Is that only me?

Thanetiore1 votes

tbh I don't know what you guys are talking about... She is absolutely supposed to deal low damage when on worked ground (design wise).

Rozair1 votes

yea and no other champion sucks that bad as taliyah does when standing on worked ground

Boulderox1 votes

to be fair her unworked ground q is one of the best damage abilities out there... The only reason it was shipped was because the worked ground fucks you hard.

Rozair1 votes

it does a lot of damage i agree but fizz urchin strike with a lichbane does more. taliyah needs magic pen like nobodys buisness and it takes at least 3 vollys of unworked ground qs to kill someone without your w and e. and any assasin will destroy her. if you look at her by herself she looks wicked op but then you take her and match her up vs a champion like brand and you realize that brand is overall a better champion. taliyah has some of the worst teamfight damage as a mage and her wall is super situational. ive only had to use it twice out of the 40 games i played her. you cant relyably use it to chance down enemies because most likely minions will screw you hard in a lane and if you dont have vision in the jungle you will have lost them by the time you get there. i guess what you can really say about her is that her actual damage is very high but her kill potential is very low. she was not designed to secure kills in any way. if you want any kills you almost have to buy item 3116 . taliyah brings very little to a team aside from the slow from rylias and a wall maybe a knock back if your lucky.

utterly irrelevant.

Taliyah is not fizz

taliyah needs magic pen like nobodys buisness and it takes at least 3 vollys of unworked ground qs to kill someone without your w and e.

then use W and E or stop playing low damage mages if you can't deal with it

and any assasin will destroy her.

youre playing a mage, your proposed changes wont do anything about this

if you look at her by herself she looks wicked op

no she doesnt

but then you take her and match her up vs a champion like brand and you realize that brand is overall a better champion.

they are not even comparable, why are you trying to? That's probably why you struggle.

taliyah has some of the worst teamfight damage as a mage and her wall is super situational.

Then create situations and don't rely on just your damage to win

ive only had to use it twice out of the 40 games i played her. you cant relyably use it to chance down enemies because most likely minions will screw you hard in a lane and if you dont have vision in the jungle you will have lost them by the time you get there. i guess what you can really say about her is that her actual damage is very high but her kill potential is very low. she was not designed to secure kills in any way. if you want any kills you almost have to buy item 3116 . taliyah brings very little to a team aside from the slow from rylias and a wall maybe a knock back if your lucky.

then you lack creativity and understanding of the champ and game , keep practicing

a 38% winrate does not change the fact you are defending your stance with blatant lies.

Whether or not I have played her does not change whether or not your statements are true or false, and yes I have played her since she came out on the PBE

SOLOQSUPERHERO2 votes

She has wonderful peel and kiting potential actually.

Boulderox1 votes

This. She is not a conventional mage, and after wanting to main her due to her powers alone, I have come to learn 4 things. 1.pre 15min she sucks 2.she is very good at denying engages/denying enemy picks. 3.she can burst people, but should not be assumed to at any point, aggressive taliyahs tend to die a lot. 4. Her wall flat out stinks as is, but it is amazing at just controlling the movements, assuming allies are smart, you can wall off some area and lead them into a trap like a tahm kench ult.

Rozair1 votes

i know this... but her teamfight and laning sucks

she gets a movespeed bonus to help you get off of it.

you don't need or deserve to be powerful if you can't manage your worked ground.

while not changing her playstyle at all.

Yes it would. "Does not autoattack because she is a mage" is a huge part of her playstyle. "Get off of worked ground to do damage" is part of her playstyle.

We should not add autoattacking to her strengths in any way, shape or form. There is no need for that to be a part of her playstyle and kit.
