So Riot, Can You Put Courage of Colossus As A Keystone?

With the Precision Tree getting that new true damage rune, it's really only fair to add another keystone to the other Paths as well. Courage of Coleuses was probably my favorite Mastery from the old system and it was never implemented in with the start of the new Runes and Keystones. Guardian only works for champions who have abilities that can be used on teammates, and it doesn't work for champions like Vi or Hecarim who just want to throw down in the middle of the enemy team (without having to worry about dying before accomplishing anything). I'd really love to see this added back in as a Keystone under the Resolve tree as it really fits the "durability" description and gives a lot of champions what they need.

On another note, although it has a similar condition, I do not feel Aftershock is a good trade off for not having Courage of Colossus. Some champions don't need armor and magic resist. The 4 second shield from CoC is a lot better for someone like Amumu than a little temporary armor/mr and damage. Maybe that's debatable in some cases, but the shield is just so much more useful in most situations.

I miss Courage of the Colossus and DFT :(

I miss fervor and tld. My favorite champs never played the same in lane again.

TLD played way differently than electrocute does. You could take it on ahri, lux, and other champs of that nature and be able to do damage early on in trades relatively frequently. On ahri you could proc it with just q+ auto, and on lux you could do it with q or e + auto. It gave trades in lane a little mmph that helped against assassins.

Ofc shield would be more useful. It works well vs true dmg. Thats why tanks wont have it. Aftershock soon gonna turn into aftershit after everyone will get true dmg and latest changes to LW :D

Also colossus was broken AF.

It was only broken at release, after they toned it down it was perfectly fine.

I played as Leona that whole season even though i hated playing her before that. Reason is simple - it made engaging on her super safe and super easy. I could poke by engaging balls deeps during lane phase. Taking half HP and walking away without taking ANY dmg at all or with minimum amount of it. And even during late game i could engage with 10% hp and walk away alive. Cuz SHIELD. Even after all nerfs. Aftershock makes you tanky but it does not pull shields out of the ass. If you have no hp - you have no hp.

Yea on release it was SUPER broken. Like COMPLETELY.

Colossus wasnt broken It just required people not to throw all their damage at a class that you shouldnt throw damage at anyway and wait until its done. You mean not brain dead throw stuff around without any regard for what is happening man that sounds totally broken. Not like it was the It had a massive cooldown so you could only do it once per fight. compared to thinks like dft and warlords blood lust being permanantly up

Hecarim Vi You're right I should've just ignored them while they killed all the carries in the middle of the team.

LordGeovanni1 votes

yes you should because if any of them are building courage they are stacking health and thus have no damage and Courage of the Collussus counters itself because it only procs off of hard cc thus wasting its up time and riot nerfed bother the up time and sheild strength. despite like i already said its cooldown is so long you could only use it once per fight. And another thing People who stacked Courage over other sheilds Like Vi and Camille ended up wasting up time for both sheilds when people shouldnt even be able to burst through either alone.

Except only Hecarim build remotely tanky. Vi still went Warrior+Trinity+Steraks and killed your carry with R+Q+E while having a massive healthbar while doing it. The problem with Courage was it scaled with max health and not bonus so it was better used by fighters than it was by actual tanks since it allowed fighters to get a ~30% max health shield for diving in the back line while building damage. Was the shield less than a tanks? Sure, but it is still 30% of your health you paid zero gold for and let you get away with a squishier build. If Vi took Thunderlords as an example, yes she would have also gotten the kill but she would have been A LOT easier to kill because she 1) wouldn't have been going down the resolve tree thus making her squishier and 2) just wouldn't have had a massive shield.

Thats riots fault for Steeping 65% of fighter items value in health because adcs were using the hp items isntead of just lowering the base hp of adcs so that even if they built health items they reached a net equal.
That is also mis play by the carries team if she is getting R'ed walk on top of her model to tank the Q after r and not let them get deleted and cc the vi afterward because they arent buiding defenese just hp. Carries are supposed to be deleted if they get caught that is why they are allowed to go around deleting other classes in less than 3-5 seconds.

I am just saying there is a reason Vi and Hecarim were both S+ tier junglers the second CotC came out and it wasn't because they were building full tank.

LordGeovanni1 votes

Hecarim was building full tank except item 3078 which is still partly hp and thus tank. Courage was just Squishy champions crying that they die fast when jumped on when they only want the tankiest tanks (with armor and magic resist boosts in kit) to tank for less than 5 seconds but believe they should survive forever after getting jumped on by any other class who is supposed to be tankier than them and when they are split pushing with no one to peel for them and they didn't use their self peel.

well problem still would be that it is to similar toa ftershock. Aftershock got introduced as CoC Replacement. And to be fair CoC was a balance nightmare. So thats why riot probably changed from a shield to armor/mr values. Ofcourse Aftershock still can be changed but CoC probably would not return cause Aftershock exists.

Badnik962 votes

like summon aery and arcane comet are too similar?

Häxel4 votes

they are a bit similar but still have diffrent usage and diffrent users. Aery is good for short range battlemages and support style with shields. It is limited to as it needs to come back to the user. Comet the standard mage rune, especialy good on damage over time as it reduces its cd while you dmg enemies or good with artilery poke champs also.

CoC and Aftershock both activate with a user using a stun and giving than a defensive effect. It would totaly share the same champions and champions would always take the currently stronger one. None cc users that take grasp or supportstyle with guardian is already established but every former CoC user is basicly a Aftershock user while Grasp remained and Stoneborn pact Users (whose keystone got changed to a normal rune) now use guardian mostly.

Z3Sleeper1 votes

Bigger problem would be it got removed for a reason. Aftershock was 100% meant to replace it in a more balanced way.

So Aftershock?

Snowman Arc1 votes

Well, technically, getting a shield is kinda the same as getting a lot of extra resistances, it's just the numbers that need to be tweaked to make it feel the same. As it stand right now, Aftershock is just an early game rune. The stats it provides are really strong in the early game, along with the damage, while it almost does nothing late game and that's something that needs to be changed.

The difference is mostly just obvious power vs hidden power.

120 HP from CoC might end up mitigating about as much damage as the resists from Aftershock, but it feels more satisfying to use.

Critmaster Garen1 votes

CoC is mechanically too similar to aftershock.

the only way i could see CoC make a return, is if it replaced aftershock in the resolve tree. otherwise theyd compete with each other with one almost always guaranteed to be stronger than the other. (except for rare exceptions like malphite, who would always want aftershock over CoC)
