What the hell? Why not add it back!? "Oh, Azir got hit by the Rylai's changes and, while looking into adding power, we noticed his E's shield scaling was bugged and not working. So, instead of fixing the bug, we removed it entirely. Have a nice day." I mean, it's less that you did it, and more of "Is that it? No more explanation than just, "We removed it,"?"

It lets them buff him elsewhere.

I wish they would have at least said that since they haven't showed or mentioned any upcoming buffs other than "We have buffed him".

Personally, I just want to figure out what kind of direction Riot is taking him. (They are pretty proactive with nerfs, but I can't quite figure out exactly how these balance changes are going to shape him.)

I think they are looking to return some of his strength from before, but are looking for smaller things to trim elswhere instead of straight buffing. They want to move slowly with it, so they don't overbuff him and end up needing to nerf again. Slow steps towards where he is playable but not oppressive.

because they don't want to buff him like that.

you guys didn't even notice his shield was weaker, it's not like you actually care until it was mentioned
