How to bring back honourable opponent and fix toxicity in ranked games

Hey guys ! I posted here the video of a french streamer who had an idea on how to get over toxicity in LoL.

His idea is that at the end of a ranked game, anyone could choose to remove a LP of a party member (especially those who were super toxic, or just unfun to play with in general), and to give this LP to another party member (anyone that was cool to play with, that carried the game, etc. not a premade though)

I think we can combine this idea with the honourable opponent system.

We could choose to remove a LP from one of our party member, and give it to an opponent that actually deserved the win.

This system would favour people to tryhard as much as they can (even in "lost game ff 15"), and to feel nice to others, to make their chance of having these extra LPs greater.

It would also solve the issue of toxic smurfs ("you suck im diamond smurf lol lmao"), because they would now win much less LPs per match. GIven they just want to climb as fast as they can, they will have to change their mindset to climb faster.

There obviously are some twists to be done (especially for very high elo, to avoid people that know each other to focus down a player cause they don't want him to reach rank 1 or something like this)

What are you guys thoughts on this ? [leblanc-funny]

League can just make a streamer mode like fortnite for those players.

That idea omits one important moment: people are pig-headed assholes and people in ranked are pig-headed assholes with triple asshole on top. Giving them the power over other teammates' LP will open a whole new can of toxic worms. Nobody needs that shit.

Please read your post again, and again, and again until you realise how stupid that suggestion is. You really want some1 to control your LP gains, giving the fact that they basically don't need any reason to do it? And most importantly, that idea is just an invitation for wintrading.

It is about 1 lp per person. unless you're a complete asshole, you won't lose more than 4 LPs per game. And if you're nice, you can gain up to 4 extra LPs. This definitely promotes good behaviour. Wintrading ? it is about 1 LP per person. Irrelevant.

That's right, that 1 LP per person is irrelevant. Players won't become The Goodest Bois for mere 4 LP xD And people have different opinion on what's toxic and what's not toxic. You really think people will look for objective reasons to take some1's LP?

Here's what's gonna happen: Laners will blackmail their jungler by saying 'If you gank me instead of adc/top, I'll take their LP and give it to you, and if you won't I'll take you that LP' In short, people will blackmail each other and tell others to play how they dictate, otherwise they will take LP from some1 who didn't listen to their orders.

Now ofc that won't happen all the time, but you know what will? Some1 will take LP away from that 1 player because of the smallest mistakes, or even just to piss some1 off. One LP might be irrelevant, and it won't help in reducing toxicity, but it's enough to put more mental pressure on every player.

that is a very pesimistic vision of it.

And he will be in his right to do so ; I am certain you already played a game where you felt like this one player didn't deserve to win. That's the point of it. If a player really pisses the rest of the team off, then he might not be LP worthy.

1 LP is irrelevant for wintrading. However for toxicity, it is about 4 lp / game which is quite huge actually.

Pessimism is realism. We know how League players actually behave versus how they ideally would be desired to behave.

And you do realize that there are MANY definitions of the perception "does not deserve to win."

There's Toxicity that doesn't deserve to win. There's bad player skill that doesn't deserve to win. There's doesn't listen to orders (even if they are bad orders) doesn't deserve to win. There's he's split pushing and took 7 towers by himself, but never joined a team fight -doesn't deserve to win.

There's as many "doesn't deserve to wins" as there are strategies to win or put pressure on a map. Thousands of them. Vastly more of them are bad players perceiving a good player doing something they wouldn't do, than good players seeing a bad player do something bad, though.

Just read what Illabethe wrote in his/her comment.

What if he only pissed me off, but not the rest of my team? This idea is only good if you want to piss some1 off without verbal/gameplay toxicity. Which, guess what, will create even more toxicity.

No. It actually promotes 4 really bad players conspiring to punish the one person who actually carried them, and gain better benefits themselves for doing poorly.

Real Performance and Real Behavior do not actually have correlation with how players treat other players in post game.

If one player went 25/1/12 and the others all went 2/13/5, the "others" generally don't care about the 25/1/12. They care that at some instance of the game, they didn't get ganked by that 25/1/12, and believe that if they had been ganked, they wouldn't be 2/13/5. So.... their poor performance is all that other player's fault.

That's how league actually works. Very rarely do players actually want to award the carry. They're usually too engrossed in what the carry "didn't" do.

You have no idea how often when I'm jungling.... someone is at 20% HP and knows they got themselves into a 2v3 they can't win, and yet somehow expects me to abandon Blue, go to bot lane, get in that fight, in time to save them. (When in reality if I did, they would be dead, their opponents reset, and I would die too).

That's how the real game works.

So no.

How many times do you get 4 honors for hyper carrying a team. At most, I usually get 2. Friends honor friends (even though friend honors don't actually raise honor), and others are just so tilted they honor no one at all.

Also, this is a funnelling strategy. If you were able to move LP around, your friend and you could easily agree to both behave in ways that always siphon LP to you. It's abuseable.

So basically on top of laners throwing games, they want to steal LP from the jungler and give it to the ADC? Bad.

I don't think that if someone loses the game they should be awarded any lp, that defeats the point, second losing lp because your toxic even you win just seems like an even more toxic system, won't reduce toxicity unless the lp drops are insane.

Lol, 2 good players on a team and 3 toxic, this will go over great!! I say make it happen cap'n.
