the garen buff on the pbe is kind of weird.

i mean its a buff and its great and all, but for one its awkward, since it overlaps with cleavers passive, and it also just slaps another stat on his spin.

i can see that the goal for the change is to allow him to build more tanky early on, and still deal reliable damage. but item 3071 is actually doing a really good job for him when it comes to armor shred, and the stat combination on the item is already ideal.

but what he really needs in my opinion is a mini rework to his passive to make it more versatile. he is the only juggernaut who doesnt have some form of in combat sustain and its holding him back from functioning in extended fights.

the passive garen actually needs is Volibear passive.

its a sustain mechanic that helps him survive under pressure in lane, aswell as it helps him through fights. this is what garen needs. a sustain mechanic that is simply more versatile.

now i know that champion passives arent copied 1:1 on another champion, but im sure you can come up with something that is similar enough while not the same.

The only change I've grown to like since the Juggernaut update is his E getting faster with levels. Everything else can be reverted for all I care.

As it stands now he is being pushed further and further away from his old play style. "Juggernauts" have low mobility, sure, but that doesn't mean they also have to be slow. Remove the Villain passive and give him back his speed. We don't need yet another variation of "slow, but if you get close you'll regret it".

I feel like he needs more mechanics, all they can really do is gimmicks or stuffing more power into one ability.

that said I would prefer he have his heal tied to successful executes. give him a nice second wind after he dices a team for a carry, but he has to work for it. Make it extra big for using it on the villain.

that sounds interesting.

i feel like id gladly take a hit to his out of combat sustain if the passive worked more like Volibear passive and helped im situationally under siege and through fights.

i think it should also get changed to the % missing health regeneration mechanic that the other juggs are using.

I would too, especially given I build mogs occasionally if I plan on skirmishing or splitting

I feel like Garen would be a viable candidate for a second pass on juggernauts. him and the juggs that weren't touched last time like voli and trundle

if they were going to look at juggs again in form of a class update hed probably be a candidate for minor changes at this point.

a rework to his passive would fall into that.

but since theyre looking at him right now, i dont see why they couldnt experiment with it.

Id really just like something besides the villain mechanic. Something more reliable but not as extremely strong when it works in your favor

a long ways off if ever

but yeah, I think allocating his passive elsewhere would be a good start. Having a way to activate your passive in fights for even a few seconds of regen would be great, even if the late game heal isn't so powerful

Garen dont need a rework to his passive, what riot should do is that his w activates ur passive and cant be disrupted for the duration. And his spin should go shorter, but with a bit more dmg and a lower cd.

not his passive in general, more of an added sustain mechanic. but since his passive already focuses on sustain it would be a good point to do some changes. the reason why even some tanks win battles of attrition against him is, because they usually have some sort of shields to absorb damage. i know poppy can just straight up beat him in extended fights for example. at some point she gets way too tanky for him to take down. carries and fighters often benefit from lifesteal.

this creates kindof a situation that when garen cant deal so much damage that he takes his target down in 1 q + spin + ult combo, he gets drain tanked by his opponent and loses in the long run.

his current passive also creates a bit of an awkward hit and run playstile which doesnt mesh well with a slow champion. you usually dont have a way to get out of a fight once you commited.
