This is a major contributor to why Diamond V is so completely fucked up. It's roughly the point where team composition is 10x more important than anything else, and their one trick becomes irrelevant unless it fits into the composition.

If you want to play a certain champion, and not the champion that your team needs to win, you should be in normals, not ranked.

Tobias Fate is a perfect example. He was "The Diamond GateKeeper" because only plays gangplank in diamond.
other than that though, ranked shouldnt punish someone for knowing one champ really well.
