Can we make Taliyah's Weaver Wall give assists?

Can Taliyah's Weaver Wall (R) be coded to provide the player with assists if you displace someone that's killed shortly after? To my understanding, given Yas can stop the wall, it's treated as a projectile; shouldn't any "projectile" coming into contact with a killed-shortly-after player provide an assist?

Regardless, can this be implemented? I play Taliyah Support, and displacing someone pre-kill isn't entirely uncommon for me.

We probably cannot.

The first thing is that assist credit is exceedingly easy to pick up (players get them even when they contribute nothing to the takedown) so it adds very little and this exacerbates the main issue with it, that it has the capability to encourage players to use the ability incorrectly. Like with similar "bonus" effects, they have a tendency to cause players to try to use them to get that effect rather than in the way the ability was intended or in the more effective ways. It would encourage players to try to hit other players with it to ensure at least an assist when scoring direct hits is not the purpose of the ability and getting the assist in the first place is very easy anyway.

No, it can't, because then Anivia's wall would have to give assists, too.

...Which it doesn't. #RiotLogic

That's disappointing. Pretty sure:

  • Janna shielding a turret before it kills someone gives her the assist (though the Turret doesn't get the AD bonus).

  • Trundle displacing with his ice pillar provides an assist (granted it does have a slow).

I feel like if little things like this can proc assisting the kill, that my displacement / wall that's considered a projectile? (Yasuo can Windwall it) should also. Sucks.

Wait, Janna can achieve an assist if she shields a turret and the turret kills someone? Doesn't she get the kill? I thought it works like that that if a champion was "assisting" and the tower kills an enemy, the champion always gets the kill.

Yeah, yeah, but I'm saying if she shielded the turret when it's attacking an enemy that's being taken down by an ally. Should've been more clear on that, sorry. Hahah.

Taliyah ult does give assists cus I remember failing the 2nd part of the ult but still displacing an enemy ahri so my adc was still able to kill her without me even touching her with a basic attack/basic abilities

Only downside I see is the following: In the past there were some people complaining about Gangplank's ability to "leech" assists (or even kills) with his global ult. Unlike Janna or Trundle, Taliyah's ult has a huge range. She would be able to use her ult from mid lane, leeching assist from bot or top lane without even leaving mid lane, wouldn't she?

Maybe that is a point worth taking into account.

Point well-made. It's just disheartening to set-up a beautiful play only to not have it factored into my Kill Participation. Had a beautiful play where I displaced someone earlier into a corner for a lovely Sion ult, but eh... No assist. item 3070 item 3070

Does Anivia's wall give assists? No.

Working as intended.

uh, doesn't it deal 1 true damage to give an assist? ;-;

I thought both Anivia's wall and Trundle's pillar did 1 true damage specifically for assist and tower aggro

Wait, does it?

In that case I retract my statement.

i believe stuff like ice dildo and aniviia wall deal one true damage in order to give assists so it shouldn't be too hard for taliyah. (are you sure it isn't just time based or not actually displacing them?)

@sona ping - Didn't think of it like that. )= Damn.

@happy honker - I may be misunderstanding, but if you're asking if I'm sure it doesn't give assists - it definitely doesn't. I've had walls toss people off to then be near insta-killed by my team, but no-go on the assist front.

Taliyah's wall does give an assist if you hit an enemy with it, because it counts as knockback and so on as hard-cc if you hit someone.

Perhaps I'm doing it wrong? I knocked a Caitlyn over into a corner I created earlier as Sion ulted into her, killing her on impact - but I didn't receive the assist. Does it have to hit them a certain way?

I'm not too sure though, I usually never place the wall so it actually hits the enemy. I just remember it happened a few times already that the wall hit but I didn't damage the enemy and got the assist. You can try it in a bot game, taking Courage of the collossus, hit a bot with your ult and if you get the shield, you would know for sure that it counts as hard-cc. Any hard cc you apply on an enemy will give you an assist.

I'll give that a shot; much thanks for the tip. Really trying to get all I can out of Taliyah; she's so damn fun.

Shit, do they? If so, it's news to me lel

Maybe Tali's wall does too, and I'm just not landing the wall as needed
