it just occured to me, that hed have a lot more options in itemzation to actually build a mix of damage and defensive items if mana wasnt a wasted stat on him.

pretty much just generally broaden his item choices. do you think it would be possible to just add mana scaling in some form to the shield? like a % capacity increase for every 100 mana he gets from items.

ryze is an entirely different champion. even if it wasnt the shield that scaled off mana, but also mordes damage in my example, it would still make them totally different in playstile.

i wouldnt complain.
its a serious question in mordes case though, because one of the biggest problems the champion has is how little he has by way in build pathes.
hes entirely at the mercy of how strong particular items are.

there wouldnt be any reason to pick morde over ryze when ryze could literally do everything better than him with mana
the only way it would work is if they completely reworked his kit to make it function differently and cohere with mana better

hes not supposed to be focused around stacking mana items.
its just supposed to give him some extra options.
so he can get away with builds like
just so he can get access to some more hp/ap items to give him some more variety in item builds. the idea is not to make him focused on mana scalings in his kit, but to add a small mana scaling on his shield so he can grab a 
item to complement his build for example.
ryze on the other hand is entirely focused around stacking mana and ap items like

i asked if it would be a good idea to add a mana scaling to mordes shield to broaden his item choices. you said what makes him different from ryze in that case.
first of all, ryze ability damage scales off mana. which wouldnt be the case for morde.
second, even if they both had mana scalings on the damage of their abilities, their kits are so vastly different that theyd still have entirely different roles on a team.
