Why am i playing Plats?

Paladin 0f Life··5 votes·613 views

So im B1 in my promos and rarely play ranked. My mmr is low silver and id say that is accurate. on my best day Im a gold 5. So why the f** am i being matched with plats that stomp the game or me and make my learning experience on new champs almost worthless besides learning the kit. I cant accurately gauge damage output if i am 3 lvls behind my laner. or test out item builds effectively. Or learn gaming knowledge effectively because they just troll with friends. It not super bad but it kills the fun sometimes. And this is a game and that is not right.

It is because the Sun and the Moon has aligned to form a Oblique where the consistency with the Universe Balance has shifted in favor of you losing games.

Once the angular plane of these heavenly objects disperse again, you will be successful in winning games again.

I mean i win. But last game i got two kills off of the anvia as malzahar right when i hit 6 got passive down at lvl 4 for a kill then flashed ult for second kill under tower. i roamed and barely missed a double kill bot lane that the plat lucian moped up right before i pressed E on the 100 health draven. I won my lane, I beat the silver 1 top laner playing anvia. And i helped take first tower because of my roam and game knowledge. But the fed azz lucian won the game despite the fact i did well and got objectives and kills. I learned and used my matchup knowledge. But it doesnt feel good i beat a higher elo laner in lane because the teamfighting didnt happen because lucian would steal any picks i got reducing them to 4 or 3 v 5s every time we grouped. fun but not fun and i cant learn how to teamfight with a newer champ if i cant teamfight

Is this normals or ranked? I'd imagine it has to be normals.

I agree, normal matchmaking is awful. I'm Gold 5, and haven't had a lane opponent below Plat 5 in over a month. I've had a handful of high silvers on my teams, but never on the enemy team. The lowest rank I've seen on the enemy team in about 50 games is Gold 3. I average one diamond per game as well. It's awful - especially after I quit ranked for the season because I was Gold 5 going against Plat5-3 in lane every time. I don't care that I was gaining 28LP per win, only losing 13-15LP per loss - it's not fun to lose 2/3 of your games.

I just kind of want teambuilder back. I hardly ever played it, so my MMR was lower there. So I could actually try out a new champion there. Now I can never try anything new unless I want to feed 0-15 by 20min. Even on my best champions I find it difficult to lane evenly in half of my games (basically, unless I get jungle pressure or have a favorable lane). No chance to expand my champion pool.

looking at your match history, you're typically not. In your normal games you're typically playing against unranked, bronze, or silver players. There are a few games where you'll have a plat on your team and the enemy team, presumably due to premades.

past 4 norms have had plats in them

If this is normals, that's completely normal. As a plat player I get anyone from unranked to master, no joke. You do have a normal mmr, which is entirely separate from your ranked mmr (so your physical rank actually means nothing in normals), but it doesn't mean that much in matchmaking, just a general area.

If this is ranked:

You're mmr isn't that large of a range. Low silver to G5 is a pretty large margin, it's realistically a much more pinpoint number, which you can't really know for sure since Riot doesn't release it. If you want to know the general number, try whatsmymmr.com

If you are still getting placed with plats, and I mean consistently over a large number of games, not just 1 out of every 6 games, it probably means two things: Either your mmr is higher than you think, and will go down eventually from losing to the plats, or the plat players have shit mmr. Plat is the golden zone of the end of a boost, and although it doesn't happen much, those boosted players will immediately start to do worse and play worse players (ie lower rank ones) because that's where they belong.

Maybe Rito has a conspiracy to test you against good players to mold you into an unstoppable winning machine for the glory of NA and to crush the Korean overlords once you make it to LCS.

Or maybe it's just norms, and premades are a thing that tends to cause that.

I'm in S5 and just about every match I play in has at least one plat on my own or the enemy team, usually alternates for some reason (I might play against three in one game with none on my team and then have two on my team and zero on the other in the next)

Stop complaining of plats. Riot is isn't specifically targeting you. Your ranked mmr is different from your normal mmr, and it's normal to have plats in your placement matches.
