Ruined the champ I loved. He was a boss ass DOT warlock drain tank AP Bruiser. Now he is a demon claw AP burst mage. The tyrant theme was destroyed with the DOTs being removed and somehow riot only kept the one ability no one cared about in his kit the stupid claw. Lazer bird, fuck you green blob and raven heals. And you kept the ground claw. It was nice having a safe mid and top lane AP pick that could go bruiser, zone in fights and really get into the fray. Now its just a weird underwhelming harry potter champ. We have so many burst mages, AP bruisers are few and far between, but you just made Swain like every other champ.

There is no Swain. Swain retired.

It looks like spaghetti code struck once again and somehow the new champion appears as Swain in game. We need to come up with a new name for him. What are your suggestions? I suggest Bob.

But if Swain was so great before, why were people clamoring for changes? Why did no one play him before?

I'm not even going to comment on if he's good or not, I just hate the changes because I mained swain based on his original deszign and now he's basically a new champion with pretty much nothing left of who he was before. They may as well have just made a new champion and called it something other than Swain and kept the old one.

For the very few times I played mid, Swain was always my default pick against Yasuo or Zed (especially when their playrates were higher), because people in my trash elo could never figure out how to play around Beatrice. So I'd just zone them into starvation. It was hilarious.

He was also pretty fun in ARAM.

I'm disappointed that Beatrice was removed entirely.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think there was even anyone who gave a shit about his DoT. If you mention the name Swain, most people would probably instantly recall the lightning bird, grabby hands, and murder machine transform mowing you down with a seemingly unstoppable force of terror; those are his icons, and all of which are preserved in the rework.

Sometimes I feel "mains" just like to hate. It's not even like Swain rework is like that abomination of a rework called the Morde rework, not even close. Swain rework imo is pretty fine, man.

I kinda don't hate Swain rework, it's cool, but I also don't understand why they focus him on burst now so much. Before he had one pseudoburst emergency tool like most Battle Mages. Now his ult is the only true DOT. His Q, If hit with one or two bolts and we are being generous can be considered sustained damage with its 2.5 sec cooldown. His E is slightly delayed before reaching its burst damage. But that's its. His E->AAPassive->W>Close 5-bolt Q combo seems like pure burst.

His draintanking is still there in case you chain Souls. The theory is E into passive pull into Q into W granting you two Soul Fragments with time in between to feel a little bit draintanky. I'd prefer him having weaker but more frequent form of sustained damage drain. But still at least it looks they really tried to make him even more drain tank by impementing it into his basic kit.

He is still the mage that walks into clustered fights though?

He just get´s to have a more significant distinction on uptime/downtime and clear cut differences in strength between the two.

By the looks of things he now has a somewhat harder to manage base kit but the ulti is basically a better version of the old one when it actually comes to teamfights or all ins.

Completely agree. I used to main him for a while until he got pushed out of top lane. Now he is just Vlad 2.0. Literally the rework that vlad needed was given to Swain instead. I want my birdman back with his DOTs and slow walking bird of death ult. I also hate how long a CD his ult has compared to his old one. He is an entirely new champ and idk honestly why Riot didn't just announce this "rework" as a new champ named "Bob" or something.

Another tilting thing atm is seeing him played in ranked. You literally have to waste a ban on him right now because people who have never played him a single day in their life are picking him and then just feeding hard.

Thank you.. I feel the same..HIS W OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG SO HARDDDDDDDDDD............. I have been a swain main for almost 3 years, im not afraid to changes, but when there is a change it has to be good. In this case this new swain is so un-champion.. His W is just imposible to land it in an enemy, in 6 games i havent landed a W in an enemy. Also why the hell do i need souls to land my ult???? doesnt make any sense. No souls = no ult because his W is slow and cant even been landed so ====== no ult......sorry for my english

He still is a zone control mage, just with a lot more tools and skill expression. I’m sorry you have to learn him again but the new version is actually up to date with the current game. His old kit was stale and extremely generic (aside from his old Q)
