Gameplay purposes, just how Leona is all "I will protect you" and has a huge shield but blocks nothing for anybody. And was the "Shield is the mightiest" long before braum, but her only shield ability is her Q and it is whacking somebody with it.

Just how Ashe is all like "I only need one shot." And uses a bow, and her ability is called "Ranger's Focus" but really it's just a machine gun.

Just how Yasuo uses a Katana yet his Q is a thrust which is retarded because Katana's were far superior at cutting than thrusting, while straighter, longer swords were better for thrusting.

A lot of characters weapon choices don't line up with gameplay.

Saying it like that is way more "retarded".

Yes, katana wasn't designed with the sole purpose of thrusting like rapier, but they weren't exactly dull at the tip and thrusting techniques aren't unheard of either. First of all the katana would be used in a similar fashion as "western" swords when dealing with protected targets: to hit weak points.

As for Yasuo in particular what do you find "retarded" exactly? He isn't solely stabbing with his Q, his sword isn't long enough to reach the full distance. He's basically using magic to enchance his attack. Also he is never using stab attacks otherwise.

If you wanted to talk about game logic, ask Riot why Graves' Destiny can only hold 2 shells when his gun has a revolving cillinder containing enough chambers not for 2, but for 6 shells? Speak of not lining with gameplay.

Late game Yasuo Q's more than he AA's a lot of times. The fact that the primary attack of a Katana user is a thrust is dumb. Though I agree on the graves matter.

Vistha Kai6 votes

To be exact late game Yasuo will **basic attack ever 0.72 seconds **while his Q cooldown is 1.33 seconds, which is nearly twice as long. Also late game Yasuo's **basic attack will outdamage **Steel Tempest, covering your "stabbing with katana sucks" fantasy.

Got anything else to say?

With glorious Nippon steel folded over thousands of times, just imagine how many champions Suo could cut pierce.

Jesus christ that sword must have been priceless, and he casually uses it to hit rock monsters?

Leetri3 votes

It doesn't have a pommel though, so he can't throw it at them to end his enemies rightly.

SpecterVonBaren3 votes

Two of the chambers are for his passive, one is for his Q, another is for his W, and the last two are for his ult.

Doesn't he shoot three bullets per auto? That's six right?

shells and your "bullets" are different. his passive is two rounds(shotgun shells). when fired the shell(for lack of a better word) "spreads" out.

Katana D are horrible at thrusting, that's the easiest eay to break them.

They are also inferior vs western swords vs western style enemies a.k.a. Anyone with armour plating or chain mail

Vistha Kai1 votes

It's not like similar western swords were any better against plating or chainmail. There's a reason people used them to hammer people in the face and created various polearms and blunt weapons.

Well, the shield is pretty mighty if she can knock you senseless with it. :D

Being knocked senseless is the best CC.

Her W armor/MR boost is her raising her shield to increase defenses, so I'd say she has two abilities involving her shield.

Meanwhile Braum has exactly one ability that decisively uses his shield as a shield. Q is just generic launch-ice-ball, W a leap-to ability that doesn't use the shield in the animation in any special way, and Ult is just smacking the ground.

crippler381 votes

that's because it's a door, not a shield.

his q is him knocking ice off his shield, his passive is enemies getting touched by the ice and the more he smacks em the more ice gets om em till they freeze, obviously this applies to allies and their attacks.

his w is him running to a friend and telling them what mother always said to feel tougher.

his e is him shutting the door and holding it.

and his ult is him showing them why he needed to punch through a mountain, that and the fact he can indeed punch through a mountain, before he could even open the door.

It Hertz When IP2 votes

I think the discussion was about usage of their shields directly in attack animations for their spells. And I know it used to be a door, but now it's a shield.

One of my favorites is Master Yi.

"One strike".

2.5 AS + Passive.

Ashe used to actually use "focus". It just got changed

yay nibbers1 votes

Leona has her W, in which she visibly raises her shield to gain armor and MR. She's making herself beefier rather than blocking anything for anyone but still.

Whether or not Ashe can bring as big of a game as she talks is irrelevant to the fact that she does indeed use her bow for shooting things.

Yasuo thrusting for his Q doesn't mean he doesn't use it for cutting in every other way he uses it. He cuts for his auto attacks, he cuts the air to make windwalls, he slashes people as he dashes through them, and he cuts up everyone he catches with his ult. And it's not like one absolutely cannot thrust with a katana. He's clearly doing it to jab at opponents outside of his cutting range, which is further supported by the fact that it builds up into a throwable tornado.

If you're looking for characters that don't properly use their equipment, these are very bad examples.

BeatzBoyFTW8 votes

He used it for his E? I mean the animation says it all.

Kled Man Walking8 votes

because his thematic isn't "shield guy," it's "throw corrosive shit everywhere and watch people die while also injecting yourself with weird chemicals guy"

"Mad Chemist"

Flips with it, and his passive is named after it. It's his Enchanted Bulwark :O

Navarune4 votes

I've always thought he used it for his flip...

Seraphize4 votes

Technically his shield is his passive, though I do see where you are coming from.

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

why would singed get a shield as part of his kit?

Meep Man1 votes

Every shield in the game usually indicates a defensive mechanic for the character themselves. For Singed, his bonus health from mana supposedly comes from his shield. For Leona, it is her W armor and magic resist. Braum's is the only shield that has protective capabilities for people besides himself.

However, Singed doesn't really need his shield for his thematic, but it is a nice touch for visual purposes since, without it, he would have a very thin, somewhat boring looking model.

Decrit1 votes

Well, he has to get some base armor from something. dude looks skinny.

Skias1 votes

Because he's old and busted.

Mecha MaIphite1 votes

He could hold it up more noticeably during his ult. I mean, he does gain bonus resistances.

Gnart Even Close1 votes

It would be cool if he got a new passive that involved his shield. His current one is pretty boring. Of course, he would have to be nerfed elsewhere, but it would be cool to see something new out of Singed. It might mean he could do something other than proxy farm 3 waves at once.

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

Passive.

EbonyBladeJ881 votes

Perhaps he will get a Visual Gameplay Update (I wouldn't say in the near-future, as he's not on the known list of upcoming VGU's) that will have him implement his shield a bit more. After all, Warwick's next on the list and (going by the old lore at this time of writing) the two are pals, so if WW's on the rework-chopping-block, Singed probably won't be too far behind.

Luigi2171 votes

Actually it is his passive

Deus Imperator1 votes

but he uses it for AA! thats essential for his kit

Moonshade1 votes

Singed kinda uses his shield, for Fling he does a little scoop with the shield and then flips them over behind himself.

ABSINTHEged1 votes

Singed's kit is perfect exactly the way it is. The only thing else I could ask for is for the tenacity back on the ult.

Bârd1 votes

I mostly want my free ults back :/

Comrade Napoleon1 votes

changing his useless passive to include his shield, something i read before was making him take less damage from the front, sounds good and creates gameplay.

hudzell1 votes

It technically is, because of his passive.
