Completing the Veigar Rework: What the Tiny Master of Evil needs to be viable again.

Now, we all know that Riot's rework and balancing teams have not been really kind on our short mage. And I think I know the reason of that: they had an idea, but never really pulled through with it, because they were afraid of changing the champion too much. While that fear is legitimate, the result right now is probably worse than whatever they could have created: some messed up half-rework that did remove some of the unhealthy gameplay patterns, but barely added anything else to compensate for that.

I think they should have gone Full-Sion for Veigar's kit: keep the parts that are authentic and awesome, scrap the rest and rebuild it around the good parts.

But, what are the "good parts" with Veigar's kit? I think that answer should be easy to answer: Dark Matter. There is something about this delayed meteor strike, this short moment where you know that shit dark matter is going to come down. And of course it has the OMPF! an ability with this damage should have.

So, we singled out Dark Matter as the " most typical" Veigar move, now let's take a closer look at it. What makes this skill so awesome? And how can we expand this awesomeness on the entire kit? The keyword is "delayed burst" here. Dark Matter has a notable delay, but that also allows us to turn up the power this spell has. So why not take the fantasy caused by the delay ("This spell is so fat and powerful it needs some seconds to come") to other spells?

The other two abilities that are important are Event Horizont and the Ultimate. Let me talk about the first one now:

Currently, Event Horizon is kind of... well, not living up to the thematic potential the spell has. It's literally twisting space and time, but ingame it's just... some purple pillars? Meh, not really convincing... Right now there is a delay on it, but it's not really working out and instead of empowering it feels restricting.

Also, right now the rest of the kit does not really go along with the idea of "imprisoning" enemies. Dark matter goes a little along with that, but the AoE is too small to really feel synergetic with this spell... But making Dark Matter bigger would probably cause more problems than it would solve, so I thought of something else:

The Ultimate ability right now is not really what you call healthy in terms of gameplay (meh point and click).

Sure, blowing up the enemy is nice, but why blow up ONE enemy, if you could blow up EVERYTHING ? Veigar draws energy from the cosmos itself, unimaginable power, bending even the natural laws of the universe at his will. If a character like that needs an ultimate, it needs to be big. Devastating. And so powerful that it can be described as pure evil.

So, here I thought of a little idea:

"R: Veigar sends and orb to a target location. After a certain delay this orb explodes, dealing massive AoE in an area of the size of Event Horizont. Increased Damage the closer the target is to the center. During the orb's delay enemies moving away from the orb are slowed, enemies moving towards it are sped up. Not moving enemies are slightly moved towards it."

Not sure if manual detonation for less damage could be a thing, that would have to be playtested.

I think that would go perfectly along with Dark Matter in the theme, giving your enemies that short feeling of "OH FUC-" before fading into a horrible explosion that could tear the fabric of of reality apart with its devastating power.

Didn't really had any ideas for the Q, apart from that it should have an interaction when the projectile is fired through Event Horizont.

So, what do you guys think of pushing Veigar mor einto the "AoE of DOOM" niche? I think it would fit his theme...
