Wouldn't it be possible to code the Nami Ult as a lot of tiny projectiles?

SaltyToplaneGoat··199 votes·7,150 views

That way the entrie wave doesn't vanish into nothiness once a little bit of it touches Yasuo's windwall...

Just make it many tiny projectiles, but players can only be affected by one. Overall no change to how it play, but windwall would be less absurd in this scenario... Now it could block part of the wave, but not everything.

Or, even better, give it the "removes windwall" effect. At leats that would make more sense. Btw you could give the Braum ult the same bonus while you're at it.

Lets not try to bring practical physics into this game...

I agree. Although it does seem a bit unfair if only a few hit-box worthy pixels touch wind-wall's collision box, then the wave just turns into a breeze. In fact, any ability that grazes wind-wall should be treated the way Nami's ult would, assuming it's changed.

Troll for Trump13 votes

Talon's ult shouldn't be cancelled entirely by Yas's wind wall though.

Myozthirirn12 votes

yeah, that one is straight bullshit

Solaris Ventara3 votes

talons ult is already bull to be honest :/ so i find it a bit fair that it has a counter

Myozthirirn3 votes

I wont mind a counter, but that interaction just feels like the game cheated you or like a bug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwaObbGiGzo In that clip 4-5 blades touch the wall, and it looks horrible. Now imagine only one blade touch a wind wall randomly placed at max range.

How the hell can a portal to the void's opening be stopped midway by a man holding a shield? Rito plz...

Chaotic Sage34 votes

The shield is actually an impenetrable door infused with a shard of True Ice that he uses as a shield?

Troll for Trump9 votes

How can a portal the void's opening be stopped by wind?

Solaris Ventara3 votes

its LoL. if you start to question one ability, you might as well start questioning every ability and ult of every single champion in the list

Troll for Trump2 votes

WTF RIOT? Why does Graves have unlimited ammo? Make him have a max ammo of 20; After 20 attacks he runs out of ammo and can't AA until he recalls to restock up on ammo.

patch 6.9

"Okay guys, in this patch we ONLY changed the color of the launcher's "launch" button. We didn't make any change to champs, items or any other game related file. Again, we didn't touch anything except the color of the button"

2 days later: "Azir was disable due to an ingame bug"

SaltyToplaneGoat3 votes

Maybe the bug was there before but no one noticed it, who knows? ^^

Blackstone019 votes

No, the button color being changed made his wall permanent and block allies.

Auz the Ripper3 votes

i'm not gonna lie, that sounds fun.

venomous frost11 votes

i can only imagine people being able to run through all these "tiny" projectiles, cuz #ritospaghetticode

flibitydoo3 votes

It could totally work Both MF and Lucian ults are only partially blocked by the walls of Braum and Yasuo And Ashe's W was changed to behave like a large number of projectiles

Athenes Lulu8 votes

Anything to make sure the entire ult doesn't get eaten because a single corner touched the windwall.

Even if it's a huge fraction, but not the whole thing.

Vistha Kai7 votes

Blah blah blah windwall blah blah blah

Braum's Unbreakable.

Everybody forgets about Braum's Unbreakable.

DracosKasu7 votes

braum wall is fair because it cancel only the first one it and he also a support abd take dmg. Yasuo wall cancel all projectile and stand for a stupid amount if time, it should have at less a maximum of dmg it can take

Vistha Kai7 votes

Braum's shield lasts just as long when leveled, is movable, the damage reduction - which works on every damage he takes - is substantial and it also cancels all projectiles.

Yasuo's wall is static, meaning in many situations it's effective lifetime is much, much lower than Braum's and doesn't provide any other bonuses.

DracosKasu2 votes

Even if braum shield block the projectile it doesnt block the effect if braum stop nami bubble the aoe effect of it still work, how many of my bubble actually hit the adc because of it.

and it also cancels all projectiles.

Blocks all projectiles. Only cancels the first one.

He takes the damage(minus damage reduction) and, more importantly, takes the cc. I go from irelia to braum and i miss having that extra tenacity T~T

The attack still exists, the cc is still applied, your ranged on-hit fervor/spellblade/guinsoo/stated stacks are still stacking. You just miss your main target.

Meanwhile there's a windwall that just makes all of those disappear, for all ranged attacks. On a carry who tends to faceroll low elo.

One is more frustrating than the other.

why not instead of vanishing it just bounces right back that way your allies can get the speed buff again and any enemy trying to sneak around or dive behind the nami ult can get hit?

especially if the previous software developer before you did not do decent comments

Stand Alone Wolf4 votes

YES! Let's just re-code the entirety of the games abilities that aren't completely blocked by one champions wind-wall, just so they are more visually pleasing to the eyes.

Vistha Kai3 votes

Two champions and it's not about visuals.

It's about the gameplay.

Stand Alone Wolf1 votes

What do you mean "Two champions?" You do realize there are plenty of other champions with quite similar abilities not in looks, but in size, and range. Like the comment on the Ez ult. Would it be fair to just adjust Nami's ult for Yasuo, and to ignore other champs abilities that only partially hit/graze windwall all the same? My major point in that sarcastic statement was that doing so would be plenty of work, that may sprout more problems/bugs down the road. Although I understand what it is that you're saying about Nami's ult (And that it would make more sense being water, and all) if this was done for Just Nami's ult, then why not do it for:

Ezreal's ult (Ezreal's ult actually has Tiny projectiles as you described implementing within Nami's ult)

Azir's ult (Of course with this I'm unsure if this has already been implemented, but if not, then soldiers that don't hit the wall should continue their charging path foward.

Annie's flames (if shot onto the side of his wall, the flames that obviously didn't hit the wall should finish their animation.

What do you mean "Two champions?"

Pretty sure the "two champions" means Yasuo Braum, the only ones who can CAUSE the problem, not that there are only two that can be hosed by it.

Hemulen Magi4 votes

Actually, it's not just two champions. It affects Talon's ult too for example. It's really stupid that Yasuo can't hardly be hit by Talon's ult, because as long as he is remotely near wind wall and just one dagger brushes it as they collapse in... Poof.

SoraLow3 votes

Specifically it is about the fact that even though Nami's wave is wider than the wind wall, if any part of the wave touches the wind wall, the entire wave is negated. Thats kinda effed up tbh. [zombie-brand-mindblown]

Shonjl5 votes

That actually isnt a good excuse. Even from Indie Dev standards that bad. My brother is trying to start up a company and when I showed him that, he laughed hard, saying only people that have no idea how to code would allow that to happen.

Is it a big thing? Sure, but that is Riots fault for using spagetti code. A single entity being blocked is one thing, something big like that isn't 1 entity so shouldnt all be blocked.

AVL Prince4 votes

It should actually just fuse with and absorb the the wind wall, doubling in speed and gaining damage equal to the force of a thousand wailing Gail's

Pierce The Veal3 votes

Rather than splitting Nami's and other champions' abilities into smaller pieces, it would make more sense (from a coding standpoint) if projectiles, upon hitting the windwall, had the portion shaved off by taking the distance x that landed on windwall and subtracting it from the width, while also making it so projectiles can be "cut" in general. That way, instead of taking every champion that has stupid interactions with wind wall and braum shield and giving them buggy projectiles with multiple pieces, we could just make the projectiles split into smaller projectiles when it makes sense.

TL;DR make windwall and braum shield split abilities into a blocked and unblocked projectile instead of splitting each and every projectile that interacts in a silly way into smaller pieces.

P.S. Talon could go either way, multiple projectiles or my suggestion, though multiple projectiles makes more sense

Old Man Teeto2 votes

I could imagine the first day bugs for this record.

"Nami Pentakill"

Players: I didn't realize Nami's ult hits 340 times.

Or..

5 of the particles randomly go the wrong directly.

Or somehow Azir gets a bug with his wall now auto-attacking. Cuz you know. Azir bugs occur from everything.

Rendarkan2 votes

Azir should get a skin of something like a Missingno. Glitched Azir.

Jigglypuffiness2 votes

Blasphemy! Nami is just a support and Yasuo is a carry! Supports are just slaves with the sole purpose of serving their carry masters! We can't have her have any ways of outplaying Yasuo! Are you trying to stage some sort of rebellion, you lowly support? You should just submit to the Yasuo master and kneel before the Win-d wall and we'll all pretend you never said anything!

Project omen1 votes

I agree with the ult being tiny projectiles and all, although idk how it will be implemented in the coding part, but I do not agree with the "removes windwall" effect.

50000000000000004 votes

Pretty much like Ashe's W?

Hemulen Magi3 votes

Sounds feasible to me. Let's say 16 projectiles moving directly parallel to eachother in a straight line from the cast, with no gaps between projectiles (unlike Ashe's volley). It doesn't sound beyond the engine's capabilities.

Some sort of update also needs to be applied to Talon's ult as well so that the removal of one of his ult projectiles doesn't clear all of them.
