Gangplank in pro play

I just watched a replay of yesterday's EU Challenger Series. Gangplank was used in the second game to great effect. A Crit-plank build was used and his burst was insane. We are talking ADC levels of damage. He also takes towers very fast. WoW.

If anyone thought the new GP wasn't viable, that just went out the window.

Click the ESPORTS tab at the top and go to the VODs (Videos of the day). Then just scroll down to the EU Challenger section and it's the second game between Dignitas and Denial.

Critplank, a completely new concept. Amazing.

I just re-read my post and I didn't see "Critplank is a new concept" anywhere.

interesting game, a good back and forth. thanks for the link.

I'm not sure it proves that plank is viable in lcs, though. I mean, any character can be played in lcs, the question is how effective are they compared to other characters that could fill the same spot? plank started with an early game lead, higher cs and more kills, but couldn't pressure side lanes at all, so he can't fulfill the role of a split-pusher.

Also, I think if denial had the team presence to swap victor and rumble, victor would have been able to counter plank better and plank wouldn't have had the good early game, either. the game also stalled out, as it seemed like dignitas was unable to capitalize on their early game lead because of the weakness brought by the plank pick. at the same time though, plank was instrumental in many of the turn-arounds that made an initially losing fight turn into a winning one and eventually winning the game.

i can't really draw any conclusions one way or the other from this one game, but it was fun to watch. I've had a really good support plank game, 4/2/22, and a decent jungler plank game. Both times I built tank plank and rushed frozen mallet after getting sightstone or cinderhulk and felt I did my part helping my team to win in both roles. So i'm not totally against the remake.

Plank was one of the characters I had become emotionally attached to, and I didn't really realize that until he got reworked. I have a lot of fond memories of various plank games and I really liked the character's personality and playstyle as it was. I will probably always build frozen mallet first because in my mind that returns him to his old self a bit and i've never been a fan of crit (glass) plank, anyway. It's strange 'cause i've never really felt invested into any of the characters I've played as in various games throughout my hobby's lifetime, but for some reason I do with LoL champs.

If somebody could figure out a way to make an MMO with the same kind of character/personality attachment than a MOBA has, it would probably make a lot of money.

You still have to remember that GP is still really new. The pros will get good with him and figure out some cool things you can do with him. While I don't think he will become a "go to" champion in LCS, I do think he will see a decent amount of games.

As for swapping Victor to top lane, probably not a good idea. With the lane being longer, he would get ganked pretty easy by the jungler.

I agree that it was a fun game to watch and that the rework was pretty good.

uhh...I dont know when you started league, but Critplank has been a thign for like....ever.

Yes, it has, but a lot of people thought it wouldn't be viable with his new kit for some reason.

we knew he was keeping his Q though o.o

and that was all critplank really needed.

his new passive scales with dmg(which critplank has plenty of)

his kegs crit splash if he crits on it.

his new kit is more critplank than his old one was.

That's a really good observation. So do you think this will be the "standard" GP build type then?
