Because everyone knows Koo won't beat them in the Finals.

Are you one of those guys that thought Fnatic had a chance if they made it to the finals?

Raoul19 votes

Noone has a realistic chance to beat SKT. And that comes from an Origen fan who hates SKT...

Lugg6 votes

When FNC brings their A game, they can beat anyone. Their problem is consistency.

Yea not even remotely true. Fnatic playing well beyond their "A game" they will get 3-0'd by SKT.

Earl Eulrich2 votes

their problem has been the same as OGs - they failed horribly in adapting to the Gragas perma ban and got outpicked in every damn match (also, prioritizing Rek´sai > Lulu, they really didnßt deserve to progress unfortunatly)... if they had gotten Koo or SKT in the quarters they might have come out victorious.

Lugg2 votes

You may be right.

I would not be surprised if you and Don Eulrich are the exact same person.

The only team that could possibly compete with Skt would be Season 4 SSW if they didnt split up

Lugg4 votes

SSW would wipe the floor with SKT. Zero doubt of that.

iamleburk2 votes

Uhh are you sure about that? The meta is entirely different, Pawn and Deft have since fallen off, Looper is now completely irrelevant.. idk man that is a huge stretch. You're also ignoring the power creep that happens league... teams from around the world will keep getting closer and closer to perfect, so S5 teams > s4 teams. I would actually put FNC and KOO above SSW as well, they seemed perfect but in this meta i doubt they would be able to handle SKT.

Lugg1 votes

The teamwork SSW had was unparalleled. It's going to be impossible for any team to ever beat that. The best they could do is equal it.

Plus, look at the matchups. Mata was MVP of Worlds last year, so he definitely beats out Wolf. Imp beats Bang. Pawn is 12-8 all time against Faker, so he has the edge. DanDy is definitely better than Benji in the jungle. The only spot I would give a SLIGHT advantage to SKT would be top.

Trust me, SSW would destroy SKT.

iamleburk2 votes

First of all, an advantage top lane would straight up win them the series in this meta. Have you been watching this tournament at all? You know, Smeb and Marin solo carrying games and all that. You think its a coincidence that all their enemy toplaners were "tilting"? Looper would get fucked, not just through skill but through jungle ganks, tower dives, not being able to play any meta champs on the level of Marin.. And Pawn is just as washed up as Piglet at this point, he was good in his prime but that is long gone now. I thought we've been through this already; Faker is better than Pawn right now. Or was it just a coincedence he solo killed Pawn's best champion (TF)? He was getting absolutely wrecked in this tournament, and by teams like BKT ffs. And jungle advantages have proved almost completely irrelevant in this meta. Even when one jungler completely outclasses the other, its rarely even noticeable. KT's Score completely destroyed Hojin, what did it do? Clearlove is the best jungler in the world...and that wasn't worth jack shit in their games against Benghi and Gameover.

Saying SSW would win this tournament can only be based off of nostalgia. Being dominant in S4 does not translate to being dominant in S5, and the same will be for S6. The majority of those players are past their prime. Its like saying the C9 from S3 would wreck face in any of the other seasons; they were the same players, same story, but everyone else got better while they stayed the same. The only one you can actually make a case for is Imp. Pawn absolutely wiped the floor with febiven at MSI... There is a reason that didn't happen again here.

Straw Hat Loki1 votes

I have never seen a team tilt as hard as EDG after losing their second game in Groups to SKT. They were slumping hard enough for BKT to gain a 6k gold lead.

iamleburk1 votes

Honestly, i dont think its only tilt. They are a bot focused team in a top carry meta; Clearlove looked like he barely knew how to gank top lane. OG had the same problem, but never went up against another team without that problem. Iirc, thats how they dropped games to LGD and KT imo.

Straw Hat Loki1 votes

That is true. This was the whole story of EDG at Worlds as well as the LGD and iG squad. Although iG's bot was a huge weakness in addition.

iamleburk1 votes

Nah I'm telling you, Acorn would have absolutely hard carried if he was playing on form. He was arguably the best top laner in the world before this tournament; his Fiora was immaculate, his TP plays were always top notch, and his champion pool was really deep. Smeb and Ssumday would be better than him on certain champions, but the difference wasn't big enough to deny his amazing TP usage (even monte thought it was the best in the world). His collapse in this worlds is actually the most bizarre of them all; GODV never played on a world stage before, he had nerves, Imp really didn't do too bad, just couldn't help his slumping team (CLG style), and TBQ was known to be bad. Imo it was because the team wasn't really practicing and even when they were scrimming they weren't taking them seriously, which is the main theory as to why they fell apart.

Also, IG should not have made it to worlds. I think Zzitai would be ok on Fiora and Yasuo, but otherwise he is bad. Rookie is really good, but its just not enough to win the game in this meta.

Straw Hat Loki1 votes

in LGD's case, they seemed to have taken it far too easy and did not practice and prepare as hard as they could have. Their collapse was just bizarre yup. PyL and TBQ disappointed me the most.

iamleburk2 votes

TBQ was kind of expected though. GodV was forgiveable, and Imp has been known to do stupid shit this entire season (like going melee range ok Kalista.. into morde... and darius...) Acorn though, he was basically what carried them through LPL. He was the biggest reason for LGD's 3-0 against EDG.

SSW would wipe the floor with SKT. Zero doubt of that.

I thought Samsung White was the best team until I saw current SKT T1 team in Spring.

Looper < Marin DanDy > Bengi PaWn < Faker Imp < Bang Mata > Wolf

While the carry position is probably close to even due to Imp being Imp, what most people don't realize is Bang could become the best carry in the game if he is asked to carry the team. All he is being asked is to play passively by the coaches because they don't need him to go all Imp on other teams yet his statistics are off the charts. And this was the guy that excited so many coaches in LCK including Najin, KT, Samsung and SKT the past three years he's finally being settled in as a professional. I think next year is when we'll all see how great Bang is.

Only clear advantage I see for SSW is support position with Mata over Wolf. Mata is great with his shotcalling but SKT's Marin ain't too bad either.

I mean the most damage comes from Top, Mid and Carry positions and SKT has advantages over at least two of three if not all three.

And Imp said it all in the LCK finals and again in his 2015 World's exit: SKT T1 is the best team ever assembled.

Lugg1 votes

You have to be kidding. No way Bang is better than Imp. Mata was the MVP of Worlds last year. So bottom lane is heavily better than SKT. Pawn vs Faker is Pawn with the advantage. He is 12-8 all time against Faker. In fact, Easyhoon would probably get the start over Faker every game. The ONLY spot where SKT has any advantage at all is Top and it isn't by much.

Add into the mix that SSW had the best teamwork of all time and it would be an easy win for SSW.

EPIKON2 votes

Imp said it himself that Bang is probably better than him at the LCK 2015 Summer Finals.

Bang was the player that all the coaches wanted when he was first discovered. There's a good reason Najin organization invested so much on Bang, a team at the time was considered the team to play for just like SKT since 2013.

It's well documented among those involved in LCK and its followers that it's Bang's personality that gets in the way for him to become successful. He doesn't like being in the spotlight. Since he has joined SKT T1 S and now with SKT T1, he can just play behind superstar Faker and others like Marin and Bengi. But you can hear in his interviews that he's getting there. He's going to be real fun to watch in the upcoming seasons.

And yes, Bang is better than Imp. Bang has already won more LCK Championships than Imp and he'll get a chance to tie him up for the World Championship title next week.

Mata is good and he proved it with being the shot-caller for that loaded SSW team. However, SKT has Marin that calls the shots and they rarely make mistakes in games. So that part of the game is moot.

If you think PaWn is better than Faker, then I can't help you.

PaWn has small champion pool but it didn't matter because he played for the best team ever in SSW. Listen to his interviews, he tells you all he has to do against previous SKT team was to hold Faker in his lane and let his teammates win other lanes. Now that SKT has the better team than PaWn and his EDG, look where he is now, what his record is and what he has done against Faker. That is nothing.

If you think PaWn is still better than Faker after this Worlds, okay. It's your opinion but most people will think otherwise.

Looper was by far the most underrated player in LCK last season. His champion pool is so deep and he showed the world what he could do in their championship run. I don't even know what the hell happened to him at M3 with Dade. I will have to see them go head to head in the current meta to really tell how far or close they are but at this point, I don't think it's close. Marin's playing lights out since the preseason and he isn't slowing down.

Only advantage 2014 SSW has agaisnt 2015 SKT T1 is Support and perhaps Jungle. While I still think KaKao is the best Jungler in the world, DanDy and Bengi are right there. Their playing styles are so different it's hard to give someone an edge because their styles fit perfectly with that their team needed from that position but as a Jungle main this season reverted from solo lanes last few season, I gave DanDy a nod.

Both teams had fantastic teamwork so that comparison's also moot.

But for right now, I can only speculate 2015 SKT is the better team, but I know if SKT can win the 2015 Worlds undefeated, there's no question they are the best team of all time.

iamleburk2 votes

one thing, i disagree on Kakao. He is inconsistent as fuck. That's like saying Huni is the best top in the world; he either hard carries or does nothing.

SgtCrispy2 votes

There's no way Bang is better than Imp. Every ADC has said that Imp is easily the best in the world.

kirbyzama5 votes

Can we stop this false narrative that Fnatic had any chance of beating skt? Fnatic would've needed to play out of their minds , huni to not tilting, and make literally no micro errors... and they may have taken one game.

I can at least look at koo and say they are better than skt at one thing (team fighting). But fnatic? Both skt and fnatic play macro control styles backed with skilled individual play which skt execute better. Koo has a far better chance in the finals vs skt then any team does really and even then its still extraordinarily slim.

Also Fnatic is very consistent which is still consistently worse than skt. They are an exceptional team but teams like skt and s4 ssw are just a tier above world class.

Meanie404 votes

I looked at game one of the series, and instantly knew SKT wasn't dropping a game in the finals. To either team.

CrazedPorcupine11 votes

No, but they would've had the best chance at actually beating SKT.

YCitizenSnipsY3 votes

What made you think that FNC had "the best" chance to beat SKT. Like I've been saying since the results of the SKT and OG game yesterday, SKT is dismantling teams that FNC were struggling with. Both OG and AHQ took them to the brink and SKT 3-0ed both those teams. And to top it off FNC just got 3-0'ed by a team SKT has beat up on all year.

They only thing that could make you think that FNC had that kind of a chance is the series at MSI, and if that's the case remember EDG won that tournament and look where they ended up.

No, but they would've had the best chance at actually beating SKT.

A team that got 3-0'd has a better chance than the team that made them look like bronze league?

if koo wins against skt I will have to wash my pants at least 10 times

Lugg1 votes

Me too!

Kaname Date7 votes

Also then nobody would have a perfect pick em

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

There is only one person with a perfect pick em going in to the finals. Given that they picked Koo this far some Koo fan might have it.

LeeDark1 votes

Actually, I'm perfect so far. If KOO wins, though, I'll lose that perfection.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

Then you are the only one in NA with that distinction. Share? If so Congrats!

LeeDark2 votes

Oh, no, I'm not that guy. I thought we were only talking about the playoffs. I missed a couple of spots in the Group Stage.

Bídoof7 votes

Then why doesnt every other team play better? You cant get mad or say "gg worlds sucks" because in the end the best team wins

HEY MUNDO CHEERS FOR WHO MUNDO WANT TO CHEER DrMundo DrMundo DrMundo DrMundo DrMundo DrMundo

warpenguin5556 votes

im still cheering for KOO. Just because i like it when the majority of people are wrong. I doubt they will win though

Lugg5 votes

I agree. It would be great for the game if an underdog won it all. At least games would be worth watching then.

Damorion2152 votes

Why bother cheering for either team? Koreans won Worlds. Rest of the world too lazy to put in real practice.

KatCraft5 votes

It has nothing to do with laziness, Korea just has the most developed E sports scene in the world and have the best coaching and funding you can get. Korean teams like SKT, Samsung, CJ Entus, these are real companies and large organisations. Korean teams have the best resources and support. Cloud nine and american LCS teams don't even compare in the slightest.

Even Europe has a stronger E sports scene than America. Being a professional player in the US is actually very unrewarding.

Zenthon Prime2 votes

And in the meantime, it is slowly killing esports over here. This Worlds is so pathetically disappointing that it's not even funny. I'm not watching the Finals; there's no point.

What's particually moronic is that this would have been a good tournament if not for SKT. I actually rather like KOO and think they're underrated as hell, but I think we all know that the finals is 3-0 SKT win. These Korean superteams (not the rest of the Korean teams, just the single unbeatable one) singlehandedly ruin Worlds.

KatCraft6 votes

It wouldn't of been so bad if NA weren't complete garbage, at least one should of made it out of groups, and it's not that Origen and Fnatic lost that sucks, it's that they did so in such anti climatic insipid fashion.

Zenthon Prime3 votes

Especially the second point. Both series were: Game 1: Mildly close Game 2: Stomp Game 3: .......

Biffolo3 votes

They ruin the tournament by being better? You can't get annoyed at them, they do the smart thing. Show up and fucking stomp everyone to the best of their ability. It's not their fault that the other teams aren't as good.

Loboros2 votes

Its just that EU and NA don't have as much competition, like Korea has big names and something to strive for, while China just bought out a ton of those players.

LeeDark1 votes

Welcome to the real reason why DotA 2 is a better game than LoL. In LoL, it is just straight up practice. You practice your rotations, combos, and mechanics and just hope yours are better than your opponents. In DotA, a mechanically less skilled team can beat a greater team with superior team STRATEGY.

The Ellimiist2 votes

As a fan of both games though I have to say I much more enjoy watching a team straight up outplay and stomp their way through tournaments demonstrating skill rather than some random upsets due to cheese that I see in dota alot =/

LeeDark2 votes

That's a rather biased way to describe it. Calling it "cheese" shows your nothing more than a LoL fanboy. It's called STRATEGY. A superior strategy SHOULD give a team a chance to beat a mechanically superior team. That is something League lacks, by and large. Hell, I would even argue DotA requires even more mechanical skill than LoL, given the way items work in that game and how multiple unit heroes work.

What League has is a more balanced map, less complex control scheme, and easier to understand meta. All of these things are a major part of why it is king of the ARTS genre.

See, that's how a fan of BOTH games talks. I don't ascribe inherently negative words to legitimate game mechanics. Suffice it to say, the only Cheese in DotA comes from the third Rosh.

Earl Eulrich1 votes

yea, really not the end we deserved - just like S3.

next year we really need a double-elimination modus operandi to make sure the finals are somewhat competitive.
