Let's try to have an honest discussion about Yasuo

Hello all. Sorry for repeating the same topic again. I will try my best not to be just another Yasuo-hater, who complains about him in this boards.

It would be hard, because i actually am Yasuo-hater, but the reason is not him being strong. I just hate the fact that when i am not playing him i am forced to listen to his VO. You know - "hasagi", "aseryo", "taste the wind". Kinda annoying for me.

But let's be serious. Looking at his stats in EUW for last 7 days he stands on 49.62% winrate. That's just under 50%, which is actually the spot there he must be. But looking a different statistics - he is most-banned champion, standing on 64.92% banrate. And like 100 posts, complaining about him

In the meantime Brand stands on 55.69% winrate, but only with 5.28% banrate. And no topics, complaining about him

I think the reason is simple. His kit is overloaded. Not saying overpowered. But overloaded. Infinite dashes, windwall, free crit and pretty big shield. Sure, his crit dmg is lowered, Windwall has a big cooldown and that is what makes him beatable. But the problem is that he feels unfair to play against. I am not talking about myself. Being a silver scrub i play versus silver scrub Yasuos, and have reasonable success versus them.

And that is what all of this salt is all about. People do not complain about Brand, because he feels fair. If he beats me, i have the feeling he was a better player. If i beat him - i feel like it was because i was better than him - landing and avoiding skillshots and so on. But when it comes down to Yasuo - when i play immobilie mage and he rekts me - i have the feeling that i could do nothing to stop him. I know, that's not true, but that's the way it feels

So, that's my point. If you do not agree - do not be too harsh, i am just a silver scrub. What i hope is to have an honest discussion about him. Because what i read here - it is a bunch of people explaining how OP he is versus yasuo mains explaining that he is not.

Thank you for taking time to read and answer, and wish you all a good day.

Many champions may be balanced, but ye Gods they're obnoxious I've rated them here REST IN SPHAGETTI TIER Yasuo Leblanc Fizz Yorick Swain Akali Vayne I HATE YOUR GUTS TIER Rengar Riven Fiora Kalista Kindred Quinn Irelia I WILL TOLERATE IT BUT I CAN'T HELP UNCONCIOUSLY JUDGING YOU TIER LeeSin DrMundo Corki Ezreal Shaco OK TIER Rammus

Yasuo's definitely VERY near the top, and it probably has something to do with how saturated with damage this game is right now. Damage in general, just needs to calm down. IT NEEDS TO CALM DOWN.

you could probably remove alkali from that top one

No. NEver Akali dashes Tristana flashes away Akali dashes Tristana jumps away Akali dashes Tristana ults away Akali flash autos, kills Tristana

Akali surrounded by enemy team, drops down W, dashes to a nearby minion, lives infuriatingly

Personally, I think they should remove his double crit entirely (along with the crit damage reduction he has just to be fair) and then push him towards a more fighter-like play style by reverting the flow generation nerfs (i.e. leveling windwall makes E generate bonus flow), and then finally solidify his place as a light fighter by making his ultimate proc only off of his own Q. That would change a few things in a significant way: As a self reliant fighter, he would have to build a bit beefier so that he could use his E>Q combo to set up his own ults without just being a squishy throwing himself to his death, and if he wanted to build more damage heavy, he wouldn't spike so hard or so early off of a couple overly synergistic items and would be much more reliant on actually being able to land his long range Q to get into a fight.

When Yasuo first released, the original intent behind his kit was that he could build a small amount of crit and then beef up, allowing him to play as a light weight fighter with strong initiation. That play style actually worked really well. His shield was good, his kit was well rounded. Then the pros realized he could get 100% crit off of 2 items and the all out damage builds became the norm, and as a result his fighter attributes were kicked to the curb. Yasuo should be rough and tumble, like a ronin on the run, not the glass cannon melee DPS/assassin he is right now.

He doesn't have infinite dashes, spamming your E in a minion wave is a very bad thing, very bad. It leaves you with no escape options in case suddenly that Ziggs you jut tried to dance around suddenly drops everything at his feet and zhonya's, leaving you taking a full combo and no means of escape from his ult unless of course you got flash or Jesus keeping an eye on you.

I don't play a lot of Yasuo, but I find him fun in the games I do play, but he can actually fall behind from what I've experienced and if you see a Diana as your lane opponent well good luck doing anything during that entire laning phase.

He's oppressive for sure, and very annoying to lane against, but over-powered? Nah.

Hell if he gets a crit you have more chance surviving that then a Tryndamere crit, but that's another story.

Exactly my point. I never said he is OP, but he is still hated by many. Just look at the posts complaining about him and his banrate

To be fair to all that I'd much rather face a Yasuo than a Tryndamere.

I don't see anything inherently wrong with him except for how aggressive he can be early game and still either keep up or push ahead. Champions who can bully a lane should fall off, not grow stronger a time goes on.

Most people complaining about him are silvers/golds/bronzies

Riot doesn't balance around these people for a reason. Because they have no ides what they're doing. If you're playing a squishy mage against yasuo and you let him jump onto you without punishing him you're obviously going to have a bad time. Learn how to play against him. His kit is fine and requires you to think, unlike champs like master yi

How are squishy mages (or any ranged characters with skillshots) supposed to punish Yasuo for jumping onto them, exactly? Many times when I'm up against a Yasuo he will just dash through my minion wave, Wind Wall in my face, then stab me with his Q and dash out, allowing me no retaliation other than walking around his wall and then auto attacking/using my abilities on him, in which case he can just keep attacking me while I circumvent the wall which causes me to lose the trade. So what should I do in a situation like this so that I actually come out on top?

There are a few things you can do. For one, you can back off and stay away from your minions since you know he can dash through them. You can also use an ability or two as he's approaching.

While his W is down, and it is down for a long time, you can aa at range to pop his shield, back away if he tries to trade, and throw some spells his way. You can also just let him push the wave and force him to cs near your tower, where you are much safer and he is much easier to gank.

How should I go about farming, then? (especially with 500-525-ish range champs that endanger themselves by getting too close to the minion wave, because they are not far from Yasuo's gap closer) and what if Yasuo chooses to freeze the lane?

IronwallJackson1 votes

The low-range champions will have legitimate issues in lane, especially those who can't punish Yasuo for getting close or can't use their abilities to farm or disengage. Still, that's hardly any different from the difficulties faced by melee-range top laners who have to get close to Darius or who get kited by Gnar. Some champions will simply excel against others in their given lanes.

Also, if you let Yasuo freeze the lane close to his turret, you've probably done something wrong by pushing, because if Yasuo can't get kills, then he wants to farm, and nothing is better than safe farm. Alternatively, you're playing Malzahar and everything you do pushes. If that's the case, you should win 1v1, but you'll be open to ganks like a motherfucker, because that's how Malzahar do.

Well for a start, Yasuo's E dash range is only 475. If you stagger yourself properly to the side, you can last hit without Yasuo playing connect the dots to get to you.

Furthermore, given how easy it is for Yasuo to hit multiple targets with his Q, he only gets to freeze the lane in his favor if you messed up your wave control somehow via, for example, firing a wave clear skill when the lane was even. It really just sounds like you set yourself up for failure if he's allowed to do this.

As soon as he jumps onto you (which most bad yasuos will 100% jump onto you) your jungler comes in a takes the free 400 gold? Communicate with your jungler for a free win.

If you can't communicate for some reason you can still easily outplay him in lane. it depends on what mage you're playing. Annie/Malz shit on him. Brand/lux can easily outplay him. Different for each champ

you can't, But usually every tank counters him

You poke him with basic attacks, and harass him with spells and zone him off of farm, it's not hard at all. The player base is just making it difficult.

You can't have an honest discussion about Yasuo here. There's only 2 sides: Those who want Yasuo nerfed (or gutted), and the dirty Yasuo Mains who are desperately trying to protect their freelo. And the non Yasuo players that say he's fine? They don't exist. They're simply the alt accounts of Yasuo mains used to try and boost their own credibility. Either you think Yasuo should be nerfed, or you're trying to defend your freelo. There is no "Yasuo is balanced" option here.
