Ghostcrawler ruins WoW, now LoL?
Okay, i am not necessarily putting the blame on him alone, but it certainly seems like LoL Devs took a 180 in their current gameplay ideology since he joined LoL. They worked really hard to reduce snowballing in LoL, by making the game fair and giving a fighting chance to those who fall behind.
But what is happening now? Since season 6 they're doing the opposite, moving away from fair play by increasing snowballing, for the sake of ''shorter games.'' And the more it goes, the worse it becomes. Dragon buffs are fun, but they increase snowballing, and now they even removed the handicap teams had vs dragon when they had stacks of dragon buffs. Their failed assassin rework sure made some assassins more manageable (Katarina, Leblanc, Zed) But made some of them even more obnoxious (Rengar, Fizz, Kha'Zix, Talon). Even their champion design moved away from late-game champions into early/mid game champs.
Snowballing happens when a player/team makes a mistake and the other player/team capitalize on it. It might not be a big issue at higher elo, but the lower the elo, the more that mistakes are common, and the worse it is. It certainly ain't fun when every games have their outcome decided in the first ten minutes.
I already thought that LoL was really snowbally this year, but with the current preseason, it's outright ridiculous. It has never been so hard to turn the tables when falling behind, even defending is hard compared to before, you can't even manage to turtle a game and hope to win lategame anymore. It's not fun to get steamrolled, it's not fun to snowball so hard that the enemy surrenders at 20. The most fun i've had in any games were those where my team was able to turn the table and win the games, and those were both teams struggle to snatch the victory from the other. Even in defeat it felt great to have played the best you could.
Please explain to me why the Devs went and took a 180 with snowballing, why it is a ''good'' idea, because i really fail to see how it could be worth to sacrifice fair gameplay for the sake of shorter games.
