Lets Talk About Ahri

the nerf to W damage and R damage gives her a horrible damage output even if you land a charm But to combat this her E amp should make a return

Changes in runes and masteries also dropped her trading potential in lane due to removal of Q-aa procing Thunderlord's. Ahri is ok but but she feels like a discount leblanc imo. She requires 10X the effort of almost any meta midlane champion at the moment because of her burst IF shes not ahead Why bother playing Ahri if you can get better results by playing another mage?

this isnt a QQ thread i just want opinions on how you guys think ahri is right now.

The problem with Ahri is that she doesn't have an identity. She used to be an assassin, she used to be rewarded for landing Charm and skilled play. Meddler decided that style fit Fizz a lot better, so he ripped the amp off her Charm and gave it to Fizz' ult. Then he nerfed Ahri's bases and scalings and put a random-ass MS mechanic on her Q. As a result, she disappeared from professional play and high elo alike. Then, because she was underperforming, Meddler decided to nerf the range on her W and R. When her performance fell even lower as a result of that, he nerfed the sustain on her passive.

Rito and Meddler has this backwards idea that when champions are underperforming in high elo, that they need to be nerfed and this will somehow fix them?

Ahri isn't an assassin anymore, but she isn't a mage either. She's a random character with a generic skillkit that functions on hoping the enemy team is less skilled than yours. She doesn't contribute anything, but her safety means she isn't a liability either. She's a lower-mid tier champion. Her simplicity and lack of skill expression makes her annoying in bronze, like Yi, Garen, Sona etc., but her lack of utility, damage or redeeming traits makes her unplayable professionally or in high elo.

Would I like to see her become an assassin again? Yes. Do I think the Charm amp should return? Decidedly so. Does she need a random-ass MS mechanic on her Q? Of course not. If Ahri received a FULL REVERT back to her Charm-amp kit, I would be satisfied.

Ahri's identity is the hybrid playstyle of assassin and mage. Because of this versatility she is neither the best assassin or mage. She is more of a jack of all trades master of none type of champion, and she is actually very strong if you know how to use her properly (im a recent m7 ahri). This makes her a great flex pick while also making it so she doesn't necessarily specialize on any one thing. Her biggest strength of being versatile/safe is neutralized by the fact that she is not the best in any parts of her kit.

As I said in another similar thread, heaven forbid she's not in every game due to how easy and safe she is.

That's how I feel about Ahri these days.

She is meant to have horrible damage output. She gains leverage on positioning. Leblanc is a worse Ahri at the moment. She doesn't not require effort to use due to her hyper-mobility to overrun mages. This can be proven from her playrate which is a massive 6%.

Ahri is in a decent state, neither oppressively strong or depressingly weak (Like Lissandra). With some of the new runes it seriously covers some of her early game flaws, and makes her laning both safer and more offensively capable as there's much less risk of running out of mana with the combination of Manaflow band and Presence of mind.

I actually prefer Arcane comet to having had thunderlord's on Ahri, since while it's less reliable there's a lot more uptime on it. And thanks to the two mana runes, you can trade pretty well/poke decently against most champions.

The new runes give a lot of wiggle room for Ahri's tails, but her main problem is that she doesn't have quite the same power level as most of the more popular champion picks unless you pull pretty far ahead. Despite that, the amount of damage Ahri can dish out on equal level, is still nothing to laugh at.

As long as you bring the right runes, don't overextend yourself, and use your mana wisely, you'll do pretty well as Ahri in the current state of the game. Provided that the person knows how to play her, anyway.
