B-But they nerfed Janna's shield now! Even if she got a skin!!!!

Yeah they gave it a soft love tap on the early game cooldown. Wow, wop, that's all and she got some compensation for it on other areas. When I am in lane as Janna, I don't really have to perma-shield my adc whenever the cooldown is up. Early on everyone is busy farming anyways, and I have relatively quick access to some cdr with the items I build, so the difference is absolutely neglictible for the most part.

On paper, 8 seconds on level 1 more sounds a lot, but the shield is the first thing I max, and as I said before, the coin upgrade plus the item 3114 plus 5% from the mastery is already 25%. Assuming I am on level 7 with that cdr value I am now on 9 second CD shield, as opposed to the 7,5 seconds I had before. One point five seconds difference at level 7 already. And if you say level 7 is already too far in the game, let me do the math for level 5 and 10% less cdr: ~12 seconds as opposed to 8,5 seconds. Wow, big deal right?

This "nerf" will mostly go unnoticed, with the only difference that Janna lanes will now be even more passive in the early levels, while at the same time no changes to her lategame strenght have been made. If anything, the power shit changes might even prove to be a buff of some sorts, given that the nerf is so absolutely uneffective.

80% increase to early cooldown "Love tap"

Euw players cant do math it seems

low elo euw players*

do not put me in the same bag than this guy, janna win rate will drop to 40% after this patch until janna players learn how to play the new one then i guess it will increase slowly to nearly 48%

either way 18 sec shield at lvl 1 is a fcking big nerf the reason it won't olaf her is because her other spells+passive are being buffed, so she doesn't stay behind and only shield now

With these changes, Janna doesn't change the botlane into a "just farm and wait 'till powerspike because enemy can't do anything because peel" lane. The window of opportunity is now pretty big, and aggressive supports will trash her, I mean, I can't see a Janna lane getting out of a Sona lane, besides the Sona lane being members of the potato club.

yeah let's forget that her shield gives 10 ad, and she will have 550 attack range combined with her passive totally won't do anything

and now, her fully charged tornado reaches max range in 1.5 sec instead of 3 sec + got its mana cost reduced from 90 to 60

80% increase in the first minutes of the game, then effectively nothing. You know, the first minutes where you are the least needed unless your adc is a brainless turd that'd die regardless of how many shields you have?

Janna's power never was or is her pre-six laning. Nerfing anything there would be like taking power from somewhere Janna players never gave a shit about in the first place. Sure the number sounds big on paper, but that's just a noob bait making you think Riot actually cares for balance before shipping their skin ^^

It's a placebo nerf. Riot does these sometimes when they want to stall out nerfing a champion that's too strong but they know they're pushing a skin for. Same happens with placebo buffs. Ez recently got an AD ratio change to his Q that did jack shit for him. But ooo look, Star Guardian Ezreal!

Yepp, same thing, except here it might be even a mini-buff given that Janna got compensation in other areas. So we have one of the higest winrate champions in the game - and buff her, if even a little. Welp, WHAT COULD POSSIBLE GO WRONG?

It still did jack shit for his laning, which likely ISN'T going to be nerfed in the patches to come and then go out of fashion faster than it came into it.

The ratio is actually fairly big.... ive seen more people playing him and able to hit his Q and it hurts a lot more.

With the Janna "nerf" i do have to admit, just a slight increase in early game is not THAT big of a deal. However........ champions who can punish it best are ones that already counter her.

Blitzcrank and Thresh if they can land their pulls.... can easily hard engage very early on, as early as level 1 and 2.

Zyra and Nami both can just poke poke poke poke poke on away as per usual and she is unable to stop it.

Miss Fortune can land at least 2 Qs inbetween your shield cd time if i do remember so correctly.... and even 1 in that extended window is easily enough to make your ADC reconsider their positioning. Same with Ezreal.

Varus ready out damages her shield easily with his Q unless shooting through minions.... so that extended window lets him have another go.

Janna is not over powered by any means. But this was not a nerf.

i have seen these myself on my own champsion, and i still want mine reverted, Nidalee had a placebo nerf to increase her kitty skills from 5 seconds to 6 seconds.. which did NOTHING. i mean it maybe dropped her winrate by 1%. the next patch with the gutting of item 3116 and the removal of streangth of ages.. (which wasn't even directs at her per-say) dropped her THIRTEEN percent.

but riot still keeps the damn 6 second kitty cooldowns for no reason, and it annoys me

They ended a long line of skins with Janna and now they know their schedule is Janna less if you willl they will nerf her and buff someone else they will make skins for. Its a business ploy. and yet anther reason LoL is all luck in terms of winning.

May I point out that the range on her w is also decreased and her move speed reduced in 3 different places. Her late game health and Q cool down are nerfed as well.

While it is true that she is gaining some things from these changes it is difficult to effectively argue that a slower moving Janna with less health and a longer cd shield who is probably going to be within auto attack range more frequently is not a more interactive or counterplayable option.

SaltyToplaneGoat1 votes

Janna has movement speed directly scaling with AP, and you get an ardent anyways, and probably an athenes too, since you are THE shield giver... and given that movementspeed is kinda softcapped I doubt this will make much of a difference either by the time you get your T2 boots.

As for the decreased W range... usually I drop these on enemies when they are already closing in, it's not really a chase tool, so not much loss here either. And the health... at some point a squishy ass mage is a squishy ass mage, some hp more or less ain't exactly doing much when the enemy adc hits you for 600+ per shot.

All these nerfs are aimed at her early laning, the part were she was barely oppressive. Sure a Blitz might get a grab on her, but then she just builds her ardent, has her shields levelled, and all is business as ususal. To compensate for that, Janna players will be even more passive and non-interactive early, they just sit back, watch the adc farm and collect some coins. Risks taken here: none.
