Sion NEEDS help riot.

I've extensively played Sion, and there's a couple of things horribly wrong with him.

Mana; his costs are just a bit too high.

Passive: The auto attacks cause you to be unable to chase someone you're moving faster than by 50 MMS or so. The passive could probably also give sion some tenacity so he's more likely to accomplish something against anyone with a slow/stun.

Q: This is probably the thing I hate the most. It's far too easily canceled or dodged due to the huge wind up time. I'd like to propose a change though, as I think I know the solution. When canceled, have the ability activate at 100% damage and the CC that had been charged up, or simply release 50% of the achieved charge.

Right now Sion is pretty lackluster due to his inability to properly chase little champions as other top laners can. I think at least one of these little quality of life changes could impact him significantly.

If you know of some other issues Sion is really struggling with right now, feel free to let me know. / /

Sions passive is.... well he basiclly dosnt have one in this META. Casualy walking away after he dies is all it takes. ANY CC will stop him form being a threat, just a 20% slow will mean he wont catch another champ.

As for mana, you can get the mana regen mastery. I dont play him without it. Another thing is item 1056 this is a legit starting item for him. Someone told me to try it in one match, and when I was up against an Ekko in the top lane I knew I was in for some serious poke. I got a D. Ring and kicked minions at him all day. He still has an easier time managing mana than Sion, but his low health pool ment I could drive him off with just about 4 Es and Sions E and W scale on AP, so its not bad.

Eventualy building into a item 3110 with the mana regen masteries also helps a lot. Also always build a item 2033 always, always.

My typical start is 2 reju beads, but in a high poke lane like when the enemy takes an ADC or Gnar, I get the D ring and a pot. I have 2 mastery pages for Sion. One general, tankin affair. The other Is damage focused with TLD, but the BOTH have mana regen mastery.

My only real complain about Sion is hes punished VERY BADLY for having a stacking health passive by have a pitifully low starting health for a tank. Still his win % isnt bad, hes getting by. The main reason hes not very popular is because there are straight OP options for the top lane and his kit is slow and not for everyone. It takes special timing to land his full combo and it takes more work than some are willing to put in. The other thing that has him seeing less play is that flat move speed counters his kit real hard. Walking out of his Q fast means he gets to charge it less, easier time dodging long range Es, easier escapes form W explosions, easier time side-stepping his ult, and easier time avoiding his passive. Flat move speed is very available in this META.

So I also consider myself a Sion main, but I dont think they will do any buffs based on his mana. Its manageable, and if its buffed, he will be too strong.

Also I have little problem chasing people. I always buy item 1305 on him, and if you can clip someone with your E they have to flash or dash to get away from me chaining a Q slow to it. At that point Im closing in for Furror MS procs and about to put you on lockdown. Dont get me started on his Ult for chasing.

Anyway at a 52% win rate, he probably doesnt need help really.

You should let the Koreans know since he's a highly contested pick in Korean Challenger.

Sion is almost good. Really close.

I would say, buff his W's shield amount. Nerfing it AND the reactivation time was his biggest nerf, and really hurt his laning phase and jungling. Either make it 10% at all ranks again, or buff the scaling to something like 8/8.5/9/9.5/10%.

As for his passive, you need to be careful, or else it'll become overpowered in teamfights. Giving him bonus movement speed or Tenacity may make it too strong when there's enemies other than Sion to consider. I would say, instead, reward players for using it correctly in teamfights. Have kills and assists during the passive reset Sion's health decay. He could lifesteal back up some of the health. Also have kills grant another use of Death Surge. That way, he becomes something of a Juggernaut during his passive - slow, kitable, but deals lots of damage and cannot be ignored lest he kill everyone before dying himself.

It doesn't need a buff early. Making every all-in with Sion in lane into a traded kill would make it too strong.

I play a lot of Sion and there's really nothing wrong with him.

His mana costs are reasonable; His abilities are effective and well worth their costs. If he spams them he will go empty and that's the way it should be.

He gets more from being dead than any other champion with a death passive. He has a movement speed boost to offset your first issue and he doesn't want your second suggestion because he loves it when his enemies CC his corpse as opposed to his carries. Yes, his passive struggles on it's own and is very reliant on team coordination and that is the way it should be. It provides him with a source of zone control after death and forces people to react and adjust. If they waste CC or damage on you then good... If you manage to dish out damage and maybe even secure a kill then great... But the zone control and threat is the point.

His Q is debatably his best ability with both good damage and CC when used correctly, and "correctly" certainly doesn't mean fully charged. If they did what you suggest it would not only adversely effect enemy counterplay but it would also force Rito to put his Q on full cooldown... Besides I want people to hit me; why would I want to discourage it? It's essentially the same reason he shouldn't have any kind of tenacity or cleanse during his passive. This ability is his bread and butter and landing it on people at just about any amount of charge is effective for the cost and the key to winning with the guy.

I don't find Sion to be lackluster at all. He struggles with chasing people because he should as that is one of his intended weaknesses. He is pretty decent at keeping people caught though and is extremely strong with team coordination. Honestly he doesn't need anything.

He is hard to play and requires good team coordination but he is not struggling. Good luck to ya bro.

If you played Sion extensively you wouldn't be asking for buffs.

Nah I'm wanting sion to be god tier, that's pretty much it.

As soon as it happens he will be nerfed hard, trust me.

I agree he needs changes but these aren't the changes he needs.

If you want to build for his passive, just pick up Furor Boots or Black Cleaver. Bam suddenly you run faster whenever you AA. If anything he needs a Slow Cleanse on Death Surge, or some buff in general for Death Surge.

Q is FINE. It's not hard to land if you use it properly. The entire purpose of the spell is to be incredibly hard hitting when you time it just right, and completely useless when used wrong. And making it go off for 50% of the CC/Damage honestly would be worse than it is currently if you ask me, I'd rather have the CD reset we currently get so that I can try again. 100% of the damage/CC would just be broken, there'd be no decision making for Sion and no counterplay at that unless you have a blink spell.

Give his W a 2 second detonation and buff Death Surge, bam Sion will feel good to play again.
