Ya know what? Fine, we can play your damn DQ.

LatetotheRace··124 votes·3,778 views

BUT! On some serious conditions.

Remove 4 man queues. What's that? you only got a 4 man group? Well looks like you need to find that 5th person, it's not that hard. (Alternatively, you can always drop the weakest link.) Solo players should NEVER play against 5 man teams/4 man groups. (Especially since they'll be removed.)

That's it, after that I don't give a damn. 3 player premades aren't that much stronger than a 2 man from last season. I'll accept playing against 3 man groups, but 4 and 5? It doesn't matter how "rare" it is, that is completely unacceptable, and will never NEVER come close to being balanced.

If you're going to shove this "condom child" of a queue on us, at least let us choose the dad.

EDIT: If we remove 4 mans, that would really solve a huge problem with DQ which is solos playing against full teams.

Here's another solution that will remove the boost part of Dynamic Boost.

Instead of creating a whole new PvP.net account for smurfs, all your accounts are tied to the PvP.net account you first used.

If another Smurf's main account's rank isn't within 1-/1+ of your main account's rank, they can't que in ranked with you.

Leetri11 votes

How are they gonna regulate that though? I could go over to the local library and make a new account and Riot would have no way of detecting I owned more than 2 accounts.

I've heard in Korea any gaming ID is tied to the equivalent of Social Security or something like that, so there's always that system.

Melledoneus2 votes

Yeah, because Korea's main sports attraction and a part of its revenue is eSports.

slôw4 votes

No, thats not why.

They do it because one of their political activists and members had a law passed that made gaming past midnight for minors "prohibited." So all online games for accounts of minors are restricted past midnight.

If Korea's main sports attraction was eSports they would want MORE people to play. Your comment makes 0 sense.

Yep.

Leetri1 votes

I doubt Riot has enough power to enforce those kinds of laws in every country in the world. No, I don't think that kind of system would work in this case. It works in Korea because it's so ingrained in their culture already. The only thing I can think of is sending in a picture of your real ID whenever you make an account and have Riot somehow check if you exist. I had to do that to remove parental restrictions Blizzard put on my Bnet account for whatever reason.

slôw1 votes

I was just correcting that ignorant statement. Nothing else.

Duke Anax1 votes

I remeber when I signed up for WoW i had to put my real identification and they claimed they'd check with the department of population whether such a person existed.

DrCyanide1 votes

They'd have to add an incentive of the players choice (because different people smurf for different reasons). Shared champion pool, shared runes, and shared skins seem reasonable enough. If course, they'd have to lock out people logging in on two of their accounts at the same time.

Will never happen, that would mean Riot can't count smurfs as individual players and all of a sudden League is considerably smaller than Riot statistics indicate.

Honestly, I'd be happy with the following changes:

  • Premades cap at three people at all ranks
  • Premades are visible

For example, the enemy having a premade composed of their top, mid and jungler would be very useful information to know if:

  • I'm jungle invading the enemy's top-side jungle, so I can predict response times.
  • If I'm playing top/mid lane, so I can predict how often I'll be three-man ganked/dove.
LatetotheRace2 votes

I absolutely agree, and I'm not sure why they removed that ability from 3rd party sites. I personally believe it's to support or mask the reality behind their "perfect DQ narrative. Because in the last 100 games I've played with more than three full teams. Which is much higher than the number they proposed. And hell, I could have played with quite a few more, all I can go off of is their clan tags.

I like dynamic Q.

It forced me to get friends.

I just 4v5'd. In a solo q, we won by smart pings.

I lose more games in group ques than in solo.

Quit crying and enjoy the game.[slayer-jinx-catface]

LatetotheRace2 votes

Forced? So you gave in to Riot's demands. Well now that we know you're an easily persuaded person, I see no reason to acknowledge what you have to say.

(I climbed from bronze 1 to gold 1 this season full solo. I Defy DQ's challenge, and I spit in the face of premades.)

stealthfox944 votes

Do you have any idea how awful it is to be the 5th man in a group of 4 man premades? It's so toxic.

Masochist3 votes

Been there, quite a few times.

And honestly, I had a positive experience 90% of the time.

When I've been in four man premades, we only talked about mia's and objectives with the single person.

Your anecdotal evidence for anything is worth about as much as a fart in a wind storm.

jr deputy meow1 votes

my experience is very different than yours. In my experience - as a solo player being placed with 4 mans - i am never clued in to what is going on or communicated with; except occasionally to be insulted when i die.

Masochist1 votes

I can guarantee that a lot of the time you're playing, you're either not grouped with a four man or don't know ti at all.

Either way, our experiences are anecdotal and mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Lord Boltrix3 votes

I think the whole system would work if it went like this:

Solo-queue players can only expect to face solo-queue players.

Premades can have two, three, or five players; twos and threes will be paired up and can face other twos and threes, fives will face fives.

Solo players will never interact with premades, and can go back to complaining about their queue times.

LatetotheRace6 votes

That's effectively what everyone would have compromised with. You're talking about effectively splitting the queues, which I think would kill DQ.

There are just too many solo players (myself included) and plenty of duo/trios whom would play solo if they had the chance.

Lord Boltrix1 votes

(shrugs) I personally don't think Dynamic Queue is all that bad, it's just that people prefer to have choices, options you know? The system I presented lends itself to eventually creating a setting where people who play solo can expect to face other lone wolves, and people who lend themselves to teamwork can face other teams whose strength lies in teamwork.

It's stupid for people to say that solo queue or dynamic queue have more overall integrity than one another, since solo queue put you at the mercy of the rng roulette with the potential to draw every self-absorbed a**hole from the cosmos; on the other end dynamic queue allowing for just any type of premade ruins the experience of the singular player who absolutely hates to face organized teams while still possibly having more lone wolves on their team, and thus being pigeonholed into having to make a premade themselves simply to compete.

The system I presented is seamless in transition for someone who is tired of problems with his team and wants to see if they can climb by themselves, while also empowering someone who is tired of the disorganized chaos and selfishness of the solo queue system and wants to lend themselves to playing with others. To that end, I think honestly people should be able to queue up seamlessly with people they recently played with, rather than only just friends and friends of their friends, that way they can see if they mesh with others and THEN they can be friends and play together consistently.

^Solo players will never interact with premades but will assume they are every time they get ganked anyway, and nothing will change on the boards

Honestly, unless your plat or above premade groups don't mean shit. Gold and below wont make a big enough difference to make having a group an issue. its in high elo that this is an issue. so anyone gold and below can stop complaining because this doesn't even effect you at all.

Anyone plat and below actually, so like 95% of players it has little to no impact on.

While the wording is going to hurt the chances of a Red looking over this thread, it's actually a pretty reasonable request imo.

Diananmen Square2 votes

I somewhat agree to your first point, but there needs to be a better solution than just "kick someone" or "get a 5th member".

I'm a Plat Player and sometimes, to practice for tournaments and such, I like to go a 4/5 man premade with my team (Gold / Plat players). Normals aren't an option because no one will take that seriously and they're usually stomps.

However, if we couldn't 4 man Queue finding a 5th member would be hard, as the higher the ELO the less people it has. In my whole friends list, I have around 8 Gold or above friends, counting my team partners. That would be a problem.

But kicking one out is not that great either. It just feels nasty to kick someone out, especially a good friend.

So I see potential in prohibiting 4 man Q's, but adding / removing someone isn't good at all.

LatetotheRace1 votes

In all seriousness, I don't think riot will actually keep the current system for diamond+ and possibly plat+. DQ can't work when there is only a small amount of players in the system. I would not be surprised if next season they make it trio capped and ranked 5v5s.

I'd just be looking for that 5th if I were you.

Diananmen Square1 votes

The problem is actually finding a 5th member that is Gold/Plat.

LatetotheRace1 votes

There are plenty of resources at your disposal. In just 2 weeks I had found a competent group of players just from playing ranked. Several of whom I am privileged to even play with. Also if push comes to shove, you can always go to the team recruitment section of the forums. I can't get behind your excuse, that's a big reason dynamic queue started. Which in turn killed ranked being competitive.

Diananmen Square1 votes

I mean, I have my team but sometimes we can't play all 5 at the same time. But that seems reasonable, even though I've taken a break from Ranked Q (Damn Kindred Permabanners) and only play Ranked if I'm with my team.

Supreme Senpai692 votes

The only solo queue thread ill upvote. It's reasonable.

LatetotheRace1 votes

I appreciate it, I figured these would be simple and fair conditions to ask for.

Alleo1 votes

I really don't understand why people have issues playing with/against 4/5 premades. I play as a solo player for probably 90% of my games and don't see a difference when playing against premades vs playing against solo players. It might just be me though.

LatetotheRace1 votes

Sorry to say that is on account of your rank. In gold and plat, the premades I play against are far more skilled, or at least coordinated than I can make my team.

Alleo1 votes

I mean in normal games as well, not just ranked. I play probably 20x more games as normals than I do ranked.

Monsta Moo1 votes

I often find myself on a team full of solos going against a duo plus a 3man. It's almost as bad as 5man tbh. We won thanks my support who was clutch as shit. Overwatch is looking really enticing right now.

TouchFluffyTaìl1 votes

I got into two 4-man pre-made games yesterday in a row, and all 4 of them were terrible and just fed, which in the end backfired at me the most because I got focused after lane phase.

Elewd1 votes

I'd be fine if they removed 4man parties from the ranked ladder, its awful. Smite removed 4 man premades from all of their queues because it was just proven time and time again that 4 man premades are more likely to cause a bad experience for the odd man out.

HaloDragonX1 votes

This

Every elo should be max 3. Matchmaking speeds up because everyone who always 4/5 mans CAN'T. This well create a more balanced ladder while keeping the whole "more team play" idealism.

ManBearPig9161 votes

This sounds like a good idea.

DevlinCrow1 votes

Any premades is really unfair tbh the communication you can have with just 1 person, even if you're in different lanes is crazy. It was fine how it is, bring it back but with the updated champ select

LatetotheRace1 votes

Whereas I agree, I'm trying to find a compromise point with Riot.

MrWasjig1 votes

If they remove 4 man Qs they might as well just remove DQ and revert all the old Qs they killed (Solo and Team 5s).

Because with all the stuff they plan to strip out, in the end the old Qs are exactly what we'll end up with. [zombie-brand-clap]

Wonderlands1 votes

Higher ranks already experience horrendous wait times. This will just make it longer.

You know what I love most about dynamic queue? This cute graph.

https://am-a.akamaihd.net/image?f=https://news-a.akamaihd.net/public/images/articles/2016/may/DQA/graph-winratesforgroups.png

"We had to make the spread bronze-diamond and make groups of 1 player and group of 3 players count as the same thing to make it look like the 10% difference in fighting a 5 man is fair! DUH!"

But yea the 4 mans can head to normals if they really want to play, 5 mans vs anything thats not a 5 man is just broken.
