Why does a destroyed Nexus mean defeat?

Everyone knows that after a nexus is blown up, you get the words victory or defeat on your screen. However, there is something I do not understand, why does your team lose if it gets destroyed? Where is the logic behind this?

That's a good question but the games are like a sport. It's like a fight in a colesseum, only thing no one (champion) actually dies. The champ respwans and can be use in another match. So basically there's no real logic to it.

It's just the end game objective. That's why earning kills don't necessarily means you win the game.

But I guess if you want to add a logic to it. The nexus is what spawns minions, so the nexus can be seen as the king\queen\the incharge of the army on the rift and the champs are commanders of their respective roles. So destroying the nexus means you have remove the head and that usually means the end of many things.

Because of old Institute of War lore. Basically, the game was a game in the lore also. It's why Sion says "Is this what passes for war?!". Games need objectives to decide who wins.

It's the final objective. There has to be a final objective or the game would just keep going forever. It's also the source of your minions (if you watch the nexus in the beginning of the match you will see the minions coming from it) and without it you would have no minions and we all know how important those little guys are :).

When the goal is to destroy the enemy Nexus, and you destroy the Nexus, the game is complete. The appropriate Victory and Defeat screens are then issued.

Don't have the five year old mentality about something so simple. "But like, wa-eye?"

Don't have a jaded unimaginative mentality and assume things are exclusively simple.

I was answering the OP's question. Simple question, simple answer.

Maybe a better question to pose would be, "With respect to game lore, how does the blowing up the enemy Nexus create a defeat?"

I wish I had a good answer for that question, but Riot threw out most of the old lore.

The old explanation is that the Nexus is where the Summoners power basically comes from. One team breaks the link forcing the other summoners out of the game, and that team wins the game.

By the way, eschaton is a word, escheton seems like a troll move to get ashitton as a username.

True. The name comes from my old Adventure Quest Worlds days and how I liked the feel of the name of a certain boss at the time; "Escherion". And ya know, Escher. With slight modifications to make it more akin to my rl name. Didn't realize the name could be pronounced like A-shit-ton till a streamer tried to say it and went through all variations. Frankly, I like it all the more for it now.

Summoning minions requires a constant and massive amount of magical energy. Nexuses focus magical energy from powerful crystals. This energy is enough for sustained minion spawning. The destruction of a nexus stops the summoning magic.

Because Riot was programming the God Minions... but they ran into problems they couldn't control.

Okay, I know people don't like Hallbuster as a shitposter, but why is this being downvoted? Also, the answers ^^^ are above me.
