league is no longer about skill.

every ranked game is baout who gets to play the op jungler. my first pick? nidalee. their first pick? fizz. from that moment i knew the game would be boring. my nidalee landed a spear on every laner, then went in to take out half their hp. their fizz?? landed his shark to 1 shot everyone while being tanky as shit but he had bork. just when on earth are they getting truly nerfed? playing lee should be reportable if u can play fizz nidalee or sej instead.

League hasn't really been +solely+ about skill in ranked for a long time.

It's about which team has the fewest trolls or flamers, then about which team has the most OP champions. Skill is a tertiary factor.

(Edit: added the word "solely" for clarity.)

No champion is auto win. Every patch, some champions will be favored over others, but i would much rather play (and have my team mates play) a champion i know i'm great at rather than a new champion for the first time just because it is concidered strong in this current patch.

As for league being about luck, it's just a bullshit excuse, anyone who's ever been diamond once, reaches diamond again shortly (or less shortly) after the new season starts.

I could give you a detailed explaination of how climbing in league has nothing to do with your team mates if you want to.

The problem isn't that a champion is "auto-win", but rather that they win much more with the same level of skill as other champions.

I didn't mean that skill isn't a factor at all - just that it's a combination of luck, champions, and skill.

Eventually you can play enough games to overcome the random variance from the trolls and flamers, but it takes a lot of games. Every time you win or lose a game because of toxic player(s), that's one less game where skill was the deciding factor. Players who want to play the champions that they like rather than the top handful in their role also need to have much more skill to offset the power difference.

That all makes it feel like skill has a lesser effect on your chance to win than randomness and champion picks.

Toxic players, afks, trolls and ragers, they suck, they lose games, i agree with you. But it's a factor which in my opinion you can't really count. I lose a game because of afks about 1-5/100 games, and i win 1-5/100 games because the enemy has an afk. It evens itself out, or atleast it should.

Right now on one of my accounts i just hit diamond playing mostly blitzcrank support, currently i have 36 wins/10 losses, that's a really good win rate, how do i do it? Why don't my team mates feed? How could a support carry? The reason is, i don't rely on luck. I could propose that there is a 50% chance my midlaner will win 1v1 against the enemy midlaner, i have no idea how good he or the enemy is, so to me it's random if he wins or loses. However, if at level 5 i have mobility boots and i roam there and we fight a 2v1 fight, i increase the chance of my mid laner winning his lane by A LOT. If i then also buy homeguard boots and start to roam top to do the same, and just make my entire team fed, i might have turned what would be a lose to a win.

What i'm saying is, this game can be a lot about luck, if you let it, but with all the things you can do to increase the chance of winning, it's not correct to say "luck" is at all a deciding factor to what tier you currently play in.

To quote Ezreal; "It's all skill".

Right. Luck is a huge factor, but it's not one that you can control. Your own skill, and your communication with your team, are the only things that you can actually control.

If you can improve though enough, then you can overcome the influence of other factors on your chances to win.

Rule 4) Thou shalt not believe the rules apply to oneself

If you have a scripter using Morgana or Yasou your chances of losing lane are greatly reduced as well. ;(
