Love the bandwagon effect

Watching both sides of everyone complaining about the Singed support incident and find it really funny.

Neither side has brought up that at what point should you be able to report someone for queueing support and not going bot lane. Support is a general term. Support could mean shutting down the enemy jungler or just plain making the game a pain for the enemy team. It still influences your win positively for the most part.

Look at Bard, he brought a new light to support. A support that is encouraged to leave lane and not always be present. And look how many people hate it. Guess what? His role is a roaming support, get used to it.

Support isn't just for the ADC. Support shouldn't be chained to bot lane. Support shouldn't be the ADC's bitch. As much of a frustration as that may seem. If you are solo bot you should be playing 10x safer. I have won 1v2 lanes due to xp leads and outplays.

And sometimes the best course for a singed isn't to team fight as he generally does best while split pushing.

So IMO it is pretty fucked up that he got banned for playing Singed support just because Riot believes support should stay in bot lane and practically a bitch to the team. I know the full story.

For a game where supports are constantly being given more influence, it is kind of pathetic to even try to stop people from trying to break the general idea of a support down.

If Riot is reading this I think they should probably rethink their ban on him and probably lift it.

Change is good Khazix.

EDIT: Apparently some of you haven't even seen the article yet even though it blew up pretty fast here. So here it is: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/5cupmb/2_million_mastery_point_smite_support_singed/

There is a difference between roaming as Bard and picking Smite and counter-jungling your own jungler, while leaving your ADC to die alone.

I mean... LOL.

He was counter jungling the enemy jungler. And once again you are still trying to pull the stupid support is for the ADC BS. Support is a general term. It isn't ADC's support. It is just support.

No, Support may be a general term in the sense that it is a general word in the English language but it is a specific role within the game.

Sorry, but that piggy won't fly.

Support could mean supporting the team. It isn't guardian. That indicates you are meant to protect the team. You can support a team by split pushing. Support is a bad term if you want to claim that someone should always be in bot lane. Jungler means they are going to be in the jungle and is a general term. Top bot and mid all tell you where they are going but not what they are doing. Support just says what you are doing but not where you are going.

If you don't like that maybe you should use a different word.

Guardian to me is a closer term to what people seem to think support should do. You support your team by keeping them alive. You are more often than not with your team. Hell even protector is a better word.

You can fly the dictionary in my face all you want, we both know that is not how it works.

Except maybe sometimes you have to throw out what you know to get better at things.

The game was a complete shit storm before there was a lose meta to it. 1 top 1 mid 1 jung 2 bot. It is what happens when you try to optimize win rate. But what if maybe the game is in a state where that is no longer true. What if its better to have 1 top 1 mid 2 jung 1 bot. What if it is better to throw your top against their bot lane to win the game.

If you don't let people do something that is netting them a positive win rate, you are enforcing the meta. If you at least let them break the meta and fail and then see a sub 50% win rate then they don't adjust I can see a problem. But when someone finds something that works but is frustrating to deal with you ban them? No that isn't fair.

It isn't about semantics. It is about how much the player base seems to think the meta should only involve roles.

But that doesn't change the fact that he basically queue'd support and went JG. If I was to go queue mid lane, take a J4 and just be top 24/7 I would be considered a troll, and should be reported. Just because he was a support doesn't change the fact that he got a role and went and played JG instead.

Except their is one difference. Top Mid, Jungle, Bot are all locations. Support is a role. So you are actually calling 4 locations and a role. Your top laner isn't calling tank/bruiser/juggernaut. Your mid isn't calling mage/assassin. Your Bot isn't calling ADC and the ADC doesn't always do physical damage for the most part Corki.

Going to a lane doesn't mean you have to do something socially acceptable. But you must know how other people are going into that lane. If you are going to take a mage top, you have to know it will work against the meta or your lane opponent.

If you see you have a support singed with smite. Don't go into bot lane and try to win a 1v2 unless you start to pull ahead enough to guarantee the won trade. If the enemy jungler ends up 0/5/0 with like 10 CS at 8 minutes and you factor in the the new camp spawn times that jungler is basically dead weight. Your "support" has supported the team by making the enemy jungle useless and pumping out higher pressure for split pushing or grouping.

But by your own definition, the support should be supporting. If he's camping the jg, then he's not helping his ADC since he's leaving his ADC to 1v2, and he's hurting his JG by taking his camps. If he camps the enemy JG, then he hurts his ADC in the same way as the last example, and by taking all the enemy camps, he's forcing the enemy jg to either A) Gank lanes a ridiculous amount of times to make up for missing XP and gold, hurting the "support's" ADC, top, and mid, B) Counter jg a lot, which is hurting his JG, or C) Kill the "support", which is hurting his entire team by feeding. Therefore, his style of support is supporting...

Himself...

If he is counter jungling how is that hurting his own jungle. If anything that opens him up to gank more unless its someone like Nunu. And this also means the enemy jungle is more than likely going to be in vision near 100% of the time. There is going to be wards in his jungle and if your lanes watch for where he pops up he essentially can't gank either.

More than likely in this case they will even send 1-2 lanes to help their jungle and if they can escape that, they bought you time to 4v3 or 4v2 or 3v2 etc.

Because he was counter-jungling his own team.

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/5cupmb/2_million_mastery_point_smite_support_singed/ The player wasn't playing like a support. No SS, didn't stay bot, ect. Read the Reddit comments on it too

Apparently, he queued up as support. Support, keep that in mind.

Then he left bot lane and messed around in jungle all game, apparently. I think he was also trolling his own jungler.

Did he say anythign in champ select about what his intent was? If he did and his team just BM wanksty ass cried about it and called him a troll, that doesn't make him a troll.

I think he was also trolling his own jungler.

What did he do exactly?

I just heard this from elsewhere. Someone posted a link to the reddit thread in this topic. It has more info.

No, i don't actually.

My stance on the matter is that you can play whatever you want as long as:

  • You don't leave a laner 1vs2.
  • You play for the team and participate in fights, vision and objectives.

You can tell me that "Support" doesn't mean "stucked in botlane with the ADC" but if your ADC is left 1vs2 then yes you should stay close to him/her and see when you can go and farm alone, that's what Bard teached us long ago so it's nothing new.

i don't understand how bard works but i feel entitled to mention him for my argument

bard is a lane bully support who can roam. only terrible bards spend most of their time roaming early game; this is the majority of bard players, and that's why he gets shit for being picked. he isn't unique for this, either; Alistar Thresh Blitzcrank are notorious for having strong roams pre-6

i'd report this dude just for playing singed support and wasting my time; him taking smite and leaving his ADC to die 1v2 just tells me I'd make the right decision

Except you can't report someone for actually trying. They aren't trolling and if anything that leaves you as the unsportsmanlike person and honestly it is you who should get the ban for being condescending (depending on how you react to it) of someone actually trying to win the game.

There is a certain advantage to being 1v2 in lane. If you can manage the lane. You team should win everywhere else due to a numbers advantage. As the fights should be 4v3's in your favor.
