Thoughts on new Mordekaiser after reaching a 10 win streak with only him
First off, this is my setup I've been running:
Runes
- Hybrid Pen marks
- Armor seals
- Flat AP glyphs
- Movespeed quints
Masteries http://puu.sh/jMACU.jpg
I haven't really spent that much time looking into runes/masteries. Only thing that really matters I think is that you need Movespeed Quints. The rest you can change to whatever you want and it should work fine.
For skill order, I've been going R>W>Q>E. After 3 points in W, you can start to max Q instead, or continue with W if you feel like you need it, but the sustain/waveclear from W early is so good that you are gimping yourself if you put your points into anything else first.
For item builds, I just build straight AP. I started out using the bruiser type builds the game suggests, but fuck that. AP is much more satisfying and feels much more powerful to play as.
From my experience, laning with Morde is very easy and can be summed up in a few steps:
- Turn on W
- Walk into enemy minion wave
- Use E and pop W.
- Clear most of the wave and ignore other laners' damage because of your shield/heal
- If the other team has too much harass, play passively until you have a few points in W, then go ahead and start with step 1.
This takes very little skill to do and is probably really unfun to play against. It is lots of fun for me though.
Once you are out of lane, you will want to spend most of your time following your teammates around and looking for ways to hit people with your 3rd Q. At this point in the game, you will do more than half a squishy's HP with that alone. Oftentimes it does far more than that even. You want to stay with teammates almost all the time though because:
- You are missing one of your skills entirely otherwise.
- You blow at 1v1s against most champions because they can simply walk away from you.
After getting lots of dragons in my games, these are my thoughts on the new dragon ghost:
- This thing's AI is straight up garbage. It feels like I'm playing pokemon and my pokemon is too high leveled so it ignores half of what I tell it to do.
- It has a very short lifespan but has tons of health. Do not be afraid to tank things with it.
- You can sort of split push with it. It has no leash range so you can send it to another lane and kill minions. The issue with this is that the AI is completely awful and if you look away for 5 seconds it will leave the minions and try to run back to you for no reason.
For teamfighting, I usually sit back at first and try to look for things to set up my Q against that are a safe distance away from everything. Sometimes people will be focusing on other teammates and I can walk up and charge Q on the other team. Either way, once you have your 3rd Q ready, if a single player on the other team takes their eyes off you for even a split second you can instantly take out most (or all) or their hp. This is usually followed by you laughing hysterically and the other team complaining about "WTF is that damage" in /all chat.
Overall, I feel like he's extremely fun to play, but probably equally unfun to play against. The main reason for this is probably not because of the WTF damage on Q, but because it's too easy for his W/E to hit a critical mass where you can mindlessly waveclear while ignoring the other two laners and forcing them to last hit under tower. If I were to change Morde, I would nerf either the damage or healing on his W in early ranks. And then I'd fix his dragon AI.
