A somewhat rare Fizz bug got Huni killed at MSI today
Hey, so I found a bug with Fizz around half a year ago or so. It's pretty hard to reproduce and I've never personally seen it happen in one of my games on accident. However today it caused Huni to give over a kill at MSI when he could have otherwise gotten executed.
Here is the clip where the bug happens: https://clips.twitch.tv/SparklingBigDragonOptimizePrime
You can see the Fizz presses E to try and dodge the tower shot and get distance from Shen. However even though you see Fizz's hp bar turn transparent (which means he was untargetable and should not take the turret hit), he ends up eating the turret hit and dies. This was pretty much right around the point where Varus's kill credit would have worn off, so there's a chance that if this bug didn't happen he could have bought enough time to get an execute off.
This is NOT caused by him casting E too late and not becoming untargetable in time because you can see in the clip that his HP bar was transparent, which is the visual indicator that he's successfully become untargetable. This is caused by a rare bug that I've managed to reproduce a while ago. It's actually pretty difficult to reproduce and I'm not 100% sure if the conditions I was going for are the correct ones for the bug to occur. My best guess is that the bug happens in the following way:
- Position Fizz so that he's next to a wall. It's important that the wall is big enough that he isn't able to jump over it.
- Walk into range of the turret while staying next to this wall.
- Use E in the direction of the wall to become untargetable as soon as the turret hit comes out (It might need to be frame perfect to work, the timing seems very difficult)
- The turret hit will not disappear like it normally should when casting E, and you will get hit and take damage from it.
Here's a .gif from a while back of my trying to reproduce it: https://gfycat.com/HarmlessBoldCusimanse
You can see there that even though I'm well into the E animation that I still get hit, which should also prove that it is not an issue of casting E too late or anything like that. I do not know why this happens, but I do know another weird interaction with Fizz's E and walls that might be related. If you cast Fizz's E against a wall that's too big to jump over, it skips the animation and you can almost instantly double cast and land from his E. It's similar to if you try to use Vayne's Q against a wall to skip the animation.
