I know people talk about a lot problematic and OP champions but what champions do you guys feel are healthy for the game specifically?

Velkoz Maining that squid since mid season 4, I understand the champion completely from A to Z.

Despite being a powerful cannon with true damage even, he's a well designed champion with clear weaknesses and quite fair.

A champion that is only good at their job.

Best example: Orianna She is a champion that "controls" areas. Her zone of threat moves with her ball.

All of her primary abilities center around the ball (her zone of threat). Her AA buff is only so she has something if her ball is away and so shes not 100% reliant on her ball, but not enough to feel over bearing. (I don't recall anyone ever saying, Oriannas passive is OP)

Her job is to keep people away or attack with her ball, she can do this by moving it with Q or attaching it to an ally. Her ultimate has a perfect amount of counter play. you can certainly get to of it at certain ranges and dashes make that easier, but if it's on top of you and you are on CD she has you. Her damage is not the highest, but good for being so squishy her CC is not over bearing as the Slow and Ult are not nearly enough to do so. and she has a clear weakness. No mobility and attacking where the ball isn't.

She is not too weak nor is she too strong. She is... well balanced. Her ult gives her a wow factor still as ALL ults should, but she is not overloaded anywhere.

Another great choice is Ashe. While not as perfect as Orianna in my opinion. She does her job extremely well, that is "utility/engage replacement". Her job allows other champions like Jayce top and Kindred to be selected since the CC tools are taken care of in the ADC lane. She must compensate for this by having some of the lowest damage of all Marksman.

This makes her balanced, while I think her Q could use a little work still. It's unnecessary as she does a lot already.

Slow/Stun/Engage/Disengage/Vision Again her weakness is clear, if she cannot kite you, she dies as she usually will not have the actual damage to deal with the attacker.

A great mobility/assassin who is not pure damage example is Ahri, who has a lot of tools, but is gated by cool downs unlike some other dashing champions. Trying to keep this a bit short.

She has tools to do her job that is to pick off a target, but her damage is not on the level of pure assassins like Zed for instance, this is compensated, by her being able to wave clear and sustain. These trade offs are healthy.

Most champions that will feel balanced will have lower damage and more tools for out playing or defense.

Akali/Irelia/Yasuo are disliked because they do not make these trade offs. Their damage remains higher than all these champions, but their utility is almost the same as them if not higher. Yasuo has an AOE knockup/ 2 defense mechanics and mobility on no CD and sudo stun. And the damage he needs. He does not pay in defense or offense or utility. I'd happily add Yasuo to the upper list if we attacked something. Preferably his mobility. Locking out his E for a bit longer on a CD would make him MUCH more manageable.

Akali has plenty of damage plenty of mobility, if not one of the most mobile champions. Barely any cost on those, a game changing W. Topped off with a slow and small small stun. She does not pay defense or offense or one could argue she has little utility though. Attacking akalis damage is the best way to go on her, she should need to land a LOT of Qs before a target dies. If she was fast mobile and elusive, but it took her a bit to do the job. I think we are looking at a much healthier akali.

Irelia has potentially infinite powerful dashes, a tank/squishy shredding passive. A powerful defensive mechanic. A massive AOE Stun and Slowing ultimate that used to disarm. Irelia does not pay defense or offense or utility she has all and is great at all.

Keeping Irelias AOE and dashes can be great, but she should pay for it with Cooldowns and her passive needs to be completely different. She should not impact tanks nearly at all for how effective she is vs squishes.

I could do this for a lot more champions, but I had to delete a lot to keep it short-ish. I believe if champions have clear trade offs of things they can do exceptionally well, and things they can't do barely at all. That's what makes them "balanced."
