is Spear of Shojin too good to be true for bruisers?
If I recall a long time ago, a Riot dev wrote something about how they would not create a bruiser lifesteal item. The closest thing we had was zeke's herald and it was fine because it had a shared stat and so was not usable in 1v1 scenarios.
Yet the new item:
Spear of Shojin, is essentially just that. If you have damage mitigation or lifesteal end of the day it's a survival state on an offensive item. Either can be just as good. Plus lifesteal has a weakness in grievous wounds and requires that you attack.
The item is also much better than Zeke in a 1v1.
Yes it's true that Dragon Heart requires 3 surrounding enemies to activate but that plays right into a bruiser's roll (especially if off-tank). They could have given a bruiser lifesteal item a similar condition.
My stance is that I find it difficult to understand why you would create this rule that there cannot be a lifesteal bruiser item. It seems arbitrary to me.
That said I find items like Shojin to be a welcome addition and perfectly fine, and will likely fulfill exactly what I wanted, something that used to otherwise require building 1.5 items can now be achieved with just one. End of the day it's mostly a QOL improvement when buying, now we can shop for just 1 item that gives a nice mix of all purpose defensive stats plus CDR and AD.
Yes these exists:
however titanic is pricey and better on some than others, it's also more late game oriented and even then it is not as tanky. While BC is more DPS oriented and best against certain matchups.
