You can start the game with summoner 3 or (less so) summoner 21 and counter him for free. Looking at your recent games, the two games you played against zed, your only armor was from ninja tabi. You didn't build zhonya's in either.

i also was jungle

Dynikus1 votes

That doesn't mean you can't build zhonya's. Also why didn't you build a jg item? challenging smite reduces damage you take by 20%, which could have also been very useful if he ulted you.

Because I am feeling lazy, I'll make it short and you can ask me more or comment after and I'll respond. Zed is not broken or op. The reason he is banned a lot is the same reason why he seems very strong. Most people in low elo do not know how to properly counter Zed or suppress him. As a Zed main, I should know. In higher elos, people know how to stop Zed very well.

hes more mobile than riven with the range of xereth. Granted his poke go nerfed but he is resourcless so he can shove you out of lane for free. I wouldnt even mind this but when zed counters you for the rest of the game with item 3155 yea he becomes unbearable because now I have to worry about not dying to his ult while also having my damage dramaticlly reduced.

LU Vanilla Rice 1 votes

I am going to address several issues with your argument:

  • He has the potential to be more mobile, but it's very predicted mobility. He can only move to his shadows, and that can easily be countered. As well, his cooldown for his mobility is significantly higher than Riven's.
  • "With the range of xerath" is an invalid statement. Xerath has much longer range, his ranged damage does not forfeit his defensive option, and his range has a much lower cd.
  • Because he is NOT resourceless, but rather uses energy instead of mana, his waveclear has a high energy consumption and forces him to use most of his available energy. Granted, it does come back quickly, but it also means Zed is using his w to waveclear, as his q and e are not enough. With his full combo, Zed still can't insta-clear a wave without being fed (or, very ahead). And if he uses his abilities (namely, his w) to waveclear, he is very vulnerable to being killed.
  • A maw is very strong, granted it is only really strong against ap champions :P. But I am pretty sure a Zhonyas counters Zed more than a Maw counters any ap mage...

I just hope you understand that Zed isn't broken. If he were, pro players would play him all the time. But they don't, and there's good reason for that. He can easily be countered and negated.

Umm yeah he can have range of xerath for one ability through shadow which at ma range can be hard to hit. Also next time you talk shit about a champion think that maybe one item might be really good.

Blah blah blah, the fact that it takes such a high skill level to counter zed means that in practical terms, at lower Elo's he is OP--it takes less effort and skill with him to do well than learning to counter him. That is a problem. You see how I am looking at the situation realistically? You should try that sometime.

LU Vanilla Rice 1 votes

If you're saying that, then we shouldn't let skillshots exist in League. Everything should be point and click. Because realistically at low elos, it's easy and takes less effort and skill to continuously land skillshots, as most people don't know how to dodge it. At high ranks, they are dodged very easily. But that doesn't mean it needs to be changed; it's simply a matter of skill level and knowledge. And this is what separates ranks. If you have the inability to counterplay a Zed, then it shows the skill difference between you and someone else who can (it also depends on the skill level of the Zed as well!). This doesn't mean he's overpowered, it means he can dominate more if you can't counter him.

Realistically, it's not hard to counter Zed. It's very easy to do so, and I don't feel like explaining his full counterplay, so if you don't believe me, google. Perhaps you should look realistically, instead of through the eyes of someone who has gotten dominated by Zed(s) before and doesn't see a counterplay as he is only level 30...

DarkinPrime1 votes

None of that is really matters dude. Here is why: Even if you know how to counter Zed or any stupid champion like that, YOU WONT ALWAYS BE THE ONE LANING AGAINST HIM, which means, its statistically likely that whoever is facing Zed won't be good at countering him and therefore you will have to deal with a fed Zed. This is one of the core problems with League of Legends.

LU Vanilla Rice 1 votes

This means that people just don't know how to play against him, not that he is op. Just because people are stupid, it doesn't mean he needs a change. It just means either ban Zed in ranked, pick him, or you yourself should go mid, and if you do either of these things, then you're not doing anything to help yourself ;). The same goes for many other champions who snowball and people don't know how to counter, like Riven, Leblanc, Fizz etc. It's not a matter of them being op, it's a matter of people feeding them, which isn't a sign a champ is op, it's a sign about League players.

DarkinPrime1 votes

"This means that people just don't know how to play against him, not that he is op. Just because people are stupid".

I don't play mid. So save the insults. You obviously didn't read what I typed. Too busy trying to say what you want to say with regard to nothing else.

You basically have said nothing. Please spare me from your brainless drivel.

LU Vanilla Rice 1 votes

I mean, I did say something, you're just disregarding what I said. Mate, it's not a problem of League of Legends, it's a part of it that's good. It shows skill and champion diversity. Just because it's "statistically likely you will face a fed Zed" due to your team not knowing how to counter him, it doesn't make it a problem.

I am just looking at the situation realistically, which according to you is something I need to do. Realistically, this conversation was about Zed being op or not, and I do believe I have defended one side, while you defended another. So to say I have "said nothing", is an invalid statement. Regardless, I doubt I can influence your mind, given not only the fact you are level 30, but you seemingly are a pain in the ass lol. Have fun in league mate! Hope you take something from this to use against Zed!

pretty fast shurikens and shadow shuriken combo with shadow slash arent easy to dodge and 20 seconds isnt very long in game only late game team fights does 20 seconds seems long

the only way to STOP Zed is for him to mess up...

your not going to gank him, your not goign to out farm him, your not going to push him out of lane, your not going to deny him farm, your goign to need to back before he does on any champ that uses mana, and item 3157 will save you from his ulti the first time he uses it but since its going to be on cooldown the net time he gets his ulti up your just dead. there isn't ANY point the the laning phase where you have an advantage over zed unless he does something stupid. like waste his shadow or tries to 1v3. (i was going to say 1v2 but its zed and that usually seems to work for him).

he is GOING to have a gold advantage. and he is goign to haveitem 3155 while you still only have item 3191 with barely any stacks.

he is ALWAYS 1 step ahead of you. and unless you DRASTICALLY better than he is OR he makes a mistake.. you cant stop him, not if he plays right.

LU Vanilla Rice 1 votes

Trust me, you still can. I main Zed; I know that he definitely has weaknesses and they can be exploited. You seriously overestimate his power, and if you can't dodge his combo, then you should learn how to, because it's easier than you think.

Zed is a champion that can be easily thwarted. if you guys think he's overpowered, he would be a priority pick/ban in pro play. The LCS, for example, is where skill level is most equal in League of Legends. Everyone in pro play is mechanically amazing, makes smart decisions, and knows strengths and weaknesses (hence, how they go to pro play). It's a great place to see which champions are strong , and quite frankly, Zed isn't a part of that group. There's a reason why he isn't, and it's not because there aren't any good Zeds, it's because pro players know how to counter him, and he is not nearly as strong as many other champions in the meta right now (Azir, Ryze, Swain, Viktor etc).

If a Zed gets that far ahead, it's not about him outplaying you, it's about you (or your team) seriously misplaying the matchup.

I am not saying Zed is weak, and I feel like I have to keep restating that. He isn't weak; he's just not overpowered.

thats bs rofl, zed is banned a lot in higher elo as well

LU Vanilla Rice 1 votes

High elo solo queue, yes. Not in the LCS, however, given that it is a coordinated team setting, and there are much stronger picks.

Desecrationn1 votes

You're not lcs? in ur first comment u said people in higher elo have learnt to play against him, which is pure bs and u know it, because zed is banned quite often in high elo, as i said b4

LU Vanilla Rice 1 votes

First off, I'm not LCS. I am Diamond, and am not near the the level of skill of an LCS player. And people in higher elo have learnt to play against Zed. I myself have played Zed (and against) in higher elo and have not quite had as much success. I was once gold, and silver before that, and playing Zed there was considerably easier than in Diamond.

And regarding my comment, I said he would be a priority pick/ban in PRO PLAY, which he isn't. I didn't say he's not a good pick/ban in higher elo. Besides, the most objective proof that Zed is easier to play against is the win rate, and Zed has a very clear sub-par win rate in platinum+ ranked.

Dominick Destine2 votes

Zed has been broken for a very long time.

There's a reason he's banned over 80% of the time.

Wolfram Oxford2 votes

Yeah, I mean they buffed the armor on Zhonya's and tank AP items are really good, I don't see the problem.

Rozair1 votes

maw is the problem

ChaddyFantome1 votes

I like how all the people bitching about Zed are crying about shitty comparisons like THIS when it doesn't even come close to addressing the real issues with Zed as a champion. But alas, with the way you present this argument I undoubtedly am sure you deserved the beatdown and losses anyway.
