38 armor vs 450 armor...
With 38 armor u get 27% less dmg from ad champs
with 450 armor 74% ...
where's the logic?

i dont know 38 or 450 i still get blown up in 1 sec .

yeah, how dare they not allow you to become immune to physical damage! the balance team sucks because i am not allowed to build nothing but armor items!
Every point of armour gives 1% more effective HP against physical damage. So if you have 1000 HP, every bit of armour means 10 more damage you can take. The percentages you're looking at look bad, but flip the coin.
At 100 armour, you're taking 50% damage from AD. At 200, you're taking 33%. That's going from 1000 EHP at 0 armour, to 2000 at 100 armour to 3000 at 200. You see the trend? While the percentages look bad, they're not really helpful for understanding the actual effect. Armour does NOT fall off. It's just best not to purely stack armour because a combo of armour and HP is best for maximizing your EHP against physical damage (and HP helps against AP too).
Armor doesn't fall off from an absolute tankyness standpoint but it does fall off from a relative tankyness standpoint, which is what matters. I'm not saying the system is bad. I like the armor system, even if the items are a failure.
1000 HP + 100 Armor = 2000 Effective HP Against Physical Damage 1000 HP + 200 Armor = 3000 Effective HP Against Physical Damage 1000 HP + 300 Armor = 4000 Effective HP Against Physical Damage
It scales linearly.
1000 HP + 100 Armor = 2000 Effective HP Against Physical Damage 1000 HP + 200 Armor = 3000 Effective HP Against Physical Damage 1000 HP + 300 Armor = 4000 Effective HP Against Physical Damage
It scales linearly.
This is correct.
Despite what it appears at first glance, there is absolutely no diminishing returns for resistances. Disregarding penetration and reduction, adding 1 armor will ALWAYS provide an additional 1% of your health as effective health against physical damage.
Did you know 99% damage reduction will live twice as long as the one with 98%?
The more you have the less value you get out of it.
In the end riot's logic and math often suck.
i was thinking about this for a while ... and i was wondering how come x10 value of armor has less dmg reduction % than it should

Diminishing returns. It's like this in every game, generally for every stat (even offensive stats). Just in the case of LoL diminishing returns only applies to move speed and defense.
The more you have the less value you get out of it.
In the end riot's logic and math often suck.
this is not true
So you dont have 100% damage reduction or some similar number?
It's pretty obvious..
so whats the point of 450 armor? lul
so whats the point of 450 armor? lul
If you get 300 armor after % reduction, it might be worth it, but in most cases it's just a failed build. You can get this value simply because there would be eough armor items - depending on the situation, you dont always want a thornmal.
Because 99% damage reduction isnt really healthy?
It's exponential, given the function "1 - 100/(100 + armour)"% damage reduction or something
What you probably want to do is only go as high as 200-250 armor or mr or both. That's probably your highest and best numbers, about 60-79% damage reduction. Any more and it isn't worth building armor for a few 2-6%... Go damage or more hp or utility
Armor (and magic resist) effectively increase your health against that damage type by (Resistance)%.
If you have 50 Armor, your effective health against physical damage is 150%.
If you have 450 armor, your effective health against physical damage is 650%.
Conversely, if you have -100 armor, you take 100% MORE physical damage, or you have effectively 50% health.
And if you have -450 armor, you take 450% more physical damage, or about 18% effective health.
I have explained this to at least a 100 people over a dozen threads in the past 2 years, I am really really am losing faith in Gameplay's ability to learn.
hey just curious.. is it always the EUNE people who dont understand it? ..no reason ..
They all blend together at some point. I think EU in general has probably had the highest number of people, but NA have the most stubborn people that won't accept how the game works.
?? Where are you getting those numbers?
You get 27.5% with 38 armor and 81.8% with 450 armor.
That means if you take 100 dmg before resists, you'll take 72.5 dmg in case 1 and 18.2 in case 2, so 72.5/18.2=~4. You're about 4 times tankier, without counting pen and without counting any difference in hp you may have, or magic/true dmg.
So what's your point? You want to be 12 times tankier because you have 12 times the armor? That's complete nonsense! If that were the case then for the first case, you'd buy 40 lethality and deal infinite damage. The current system for armor is fine, the problem is not that. The problem is there's too much damage in the game and the current item system is terrible.
He is a good bit tankier none the less.
Armor increases your Health against the respective by the same % as the number shown.
Having 38 Armor increases your respective health against physical damage by 38%. Having 450 Armor increases your respective health against physical damage by 450%. The number will hardly ever reach 85%+ without some insane armor buffing passive or infinite stacking like Sejuani or Thresh's passives.
