@Riot Concerning Ekko

I'm sure this will come across as a QQ thread, but after waiting 7 patches, this has to be said.

Ekko has probably taken the title now as worst designed champion of all time. He actually makes Yorick look well done. His kit ridiculously overloaded and he is cancer inducing toxic to play against. I think the Koreans described him best: A champion with all the benefits of being an assassin with none of the drawbacks. Honestly, how do you make a champion that you can't get away from or catch. The amount of safety on him is beyond absurd.

There is really no way you can balance his kit, so please learn from this on the design of future champions. Time to man up, admit you screwed the pooch on this one, scrap him, and do a Kassidin level rework. I'm sure people will bring up win rates and such, but it doesn't change the facts.

i'd legit rather play against current ekko in URF over current yorick

ekko's design isn't nearly as bad

not even close

Lol surely you're joking right, you can fuck his whole combo up by just dodging his Q

Any decent Ekko player with engage with E and hit you point blank with Q. Good luck dodging that one.

Im scared to bother but I'll do it one more time. Have you played Ekko? Assassinating someone in a teamfight without getting yourself hammered isnt easy. 1 CC basically=death. He has all this in order to assassinate and/or as a reward for achieving it. The only part of his kit that cannot be dodged is his E, which puts him in melee range of his target.

I have played him. It's ridiculous. In teamfights you don't assassinate anyone unless they get way out of position. His job is to zone the enemy with his W and ult. Once the teamfight has engaged, he starts cleaning up kills because you sure aren't going to get away from him. Plus, if he ever gets in trouble, he just hits R and laughs at you.

Well as people like to tell me he is an assassin, so his job is to assassinate the carries, yet youre telling me he cant unless they are way out of poistion?

basically he is telling you that the carry needs to WANT to be killed in order for you to kill him. in any case, his ratios make him so he can't assassinate and things like 3 hit passive, etc mark him as sustained AS, ergo, bruiser.

So he has few attributes of an assassin outside of some burst damage and mobility. This is why I hate people calling him an assassin, he is a skirmisher.

That's the same for any assassin in a teamfight. You can dive them, but you probably won't kill them before having to ult to safety.

if you are one of those Sad mofos that gets caught by his Stun/shield..... then it isnt the champion, it is you. Ekko is very easy to counter infact dodging his Q early game basically means... you are pretty safe for the next 5 seconds or so.... you can farm and harass. Bait out his Q and laning is a breeze. look, i just solved your laning problem.

1v1 he isn't so bad, other than the fact you will never catch him to kill him unless he is stupid. He is problem in sqirmishes and teamfights though. It's hard to keep track of his ult and he can drop his W anywhere severely zoning your team. Another reason he is so broken is that he can detonate his W while dead! Let that sink in.

i would have agreed on release, but now he has been sufficiently nerfed. he was intended as an assassin but now only works as a tank/bruiser due to the lack of AP scaling. even if he stuns you he won't be dealing enough damage to you unless he invests in AD or AS

Lugg1 votes

All of his abilities have great base damage. His passive has a .8 AP scaling on it alone! His W passive makes his AA's an automatic execute. Plus his R has an AP ratio of 1.3 as well. He can do significant damage with just one AP item.

As someone that has bought and tried to play him any which way from Sunday I will tell you that he is supremely outmatched as an assassin in every way against every assassin I've come up against... every single one. Don't get me started on mages...

His Q is slow, has an insane CD at early levels and is VERY easy to dodge. Even though it is a casting magic it is blocked as though it is a physical attack; thusly it is countered often.

His W takes about 5 seconds before cast and stun. Even slowed enemies get out of it... then its Ekko for dinner. Side note: It does not stun Heimers turrets.

His E is rarely effective as a dodge or an initiator unless I'm already up close / away from the enemy to begin with / KS ing the ADC - the only way he scores kills.

His R is rarely used to actually try to kill his opponent due to the fact that the combo of QWE takes about 10 full seconds to get off. Thus I'm almost always using it as a way to escape rather than damage an opponent. Even when I get close to an opponent the AOE is only RIGHT next to him. If I time my ult wrong and hes one full champ size outside of me (the center) it will not damage my opponent and I am killed.

The only way I can guarantee a kill is if it is a ks against another opponent. I've built him to be a mid assassin and get outlaned by just about every other champ I've come against. It was so bad that I gave up on mid (which is what he was supposed to do) and decided to play a Jungle Ekko with marginal results (lucky to get a 1/1 KDR). Feel free to look at my match history. I have been playing since season 1 so it is not a noob issue either.

If you actually want to assassinate the opponent, he is literally the worst assassin in the game. He can't lane and he can barely jungle - so he's constantly gold hungry early game. If you're lucky enough to survive to late game - that's very rare - it is impossible to set up a combo for a kill and you always die even if you spam the ult.

For an assassin there is no reward and plenty of risk.

Here's a link from the pros to give you an idea of how he fares with win rates, etc: http://champion.gg/champion/Ekko/Middle

I hate to be harsh, but you probably just suck with him. Which is alright, everyone has a champion they don't do well on. It doesn't matter that you have been playing since season 1, Ekko has only been around about 7 patches.

If you take away people who have only played him 1-15 times (which is about 68%!), his win rate is awesome. It's a CLEAR case of his win rate being dragged WAY down by noobs. He has above a 50% win rate mid and about 55% jungle. So he is definitely strong and definitely viable.

As for his abilities, he can burst someone very well. Just E, Q, AA, AA, passive procs, and BAM. You have just put out a lot of damage in a short time. While it may not be as insane as someone like Talon, Ekko is about 1,000 times safer than him.

You are also not utilizing W effectively. You use it to zone the person out of an area. If you are being dived, you cast it on your position or behind it. They then HAVE to retreat or else you murder them. It's extremely good offensively and defensively to set up a fight on your terms.

His ult has a range of 375. So you can catch several people with it if timed right.

Your assessment of him is actually quite bad. He is a low risk/high reward assassin.
