Can we get every Rune Tree to 16 runes rather than 12?

To better cater to playstyles, offer more defensive options, and potentially introduce some anti-snowball runes?

Maybe even something to assist in protecting our turrets since Demolish exists as a minor rune -- and since we're clearly stuck with LoL taking a high-damage direction.

More Options is always better. +1

Not really, it's more things to balance. It doesn't matter you have 20 Runes in one row to choose from If all of them suck because balance team is too busy balancing the 20 Runes of different tree and they don't have enough time.

This is why they also slowed down release of new champs, because there are champs in need of rework who are dead and they wouldn't have enough resources to get to them all in VGUs If they were so focused on new things because "more options is always better". Likewise, having too much Runes (which already counts for 4 new per tree) will just make one extra useless Rune nobody takes anyway, so the graphic interface will show 4 Runes but the player will percieve only 3 like before.

We already have trees where there is this one very niché keystone you barely see taken in some areas. Let's not add oil into fire so quickly.

They should just bring it up to 28, that way every champion can just get a rune tailored specifically for them.

5 x 28 = 140

We should add a "brand new" system. Lets call it "masteries." In this "brand new" system we can "buy" small boosts to base stats such as AP, AD, CDR, armor, MR, etc in order to customize our characters. If I were RIOT I would also charge the same price as a top tier champion for the privilege of having more than one of the "mastery pages" with which to work. This way RIOT would make money off of Rune pages AND the "brand new" "mastery" pages. What do you think?

Check the PBE, they are adding an extra rune called Bone Plating in the resolve tree. Soon Riot will properly use this patch to experiment with new runes.

Or open up another new additional system.

Careful with that. More Runes also mean more things to balance, I would rather less Runes that are creative enough to offer enough diversity while also being balanced since there's less of them to balance.

See, the 12 runes cap isn't even solid as currently they are testing one extra rune for Resolve in the middle tree and are working on one extra keystone. So we should only add new runes If neccesary, not create a 16-runes per tree quota.

Well that depends on the type of rune.

Agreed, to an extent. My primary concerns are honestly more anti-snowball options to deal with the excess damage offered within the trees, and to just ensure we're catering more to playstyles than we are the tweaking of our champion's numbers. (I realize one would typically come with the other, but their primary focus appeared to be to ensure everyone had access to damage & snowballing)

I'd love to see 0 runes in every tree. [sg-kiko]
