What I hope to see out of the Tank Update

  • More variation in tank niche
  • Defensive options that are actually options (For example, taking this item will help me against this, instead of STACK ALL OF THE ARMOR AND THE TWO MR ITEMS)
  • Tank fights that aren't a waste of time and mana. It feels silly how when two tanks fight in the mid-late game, they literally do nothing to each other unless one of them is Poppy
  • Actually new kit concepts, not just grossly powerful buffs that just break a champion. (Malzahar.)
  • No more overlap between defensive items and offensive champions

hey now lets not get out of hand here, those wet noodle fights are the best thing to see when spectating games.

Rammus vs Malphite and Braum vs Alistar

are the best ones for me

Based on what they said, I think they are going to be making base resistances a bigger part in champion durability by changing defensive items into % multipliers if the item is intended for Tanks.

For example, we could see Tanks get their base armor increased and then:

item 3075 Thornmail +100 Armor -> +90% Base Armor

item 3143 Randuin's Omen +60 Armor -> +60% Base Armor

item 3110 Frozen Heart +90 Armor -> +85% Base Armor

And for magic resist (although I think MR itemization will be expanded upon overall):

item 3065 Spirit Visage +50 Magic Resist -> +80% Base Magic Resist

item 3102 Banshee's Veil +70 Magic Resist -> +110% Base Magic Resist

However, for hybrid items, the totals would be kept the same, so we would see items like: item 3156 item 3001 item 3157 item 3068 ...overall remain the same.

i don't see how, to be honest. initiating tanks do just that; they initiate.

unless Riot decides that debuffs and high damage are ok on tanks I don't see what's gonna change other than a bunch of shit that won't actually make em different

No more overlap between defensive items and offensive champions

so what? just force them to go glass cannon and make half of them complete trash?

what i wanna see.....

is Sejuani but as a strong bitch

Or reward them for not building items they aren't supposed to? Remember Bruiser Fiora?

there's no way to prevent that outside of changing the champions themselves to need more damage items

I disagree, there's a perfectly viable suggestion for it above

the entire appeal of league is its item variety though so i still don't entirely agree, as obnoxious and cancerous as some tank builds were Ekko Fiora

that's one of the biggest things that separates it from other games; builds are/were supposed to be far more flexible than, say, dota

should we punish tanks for building to make use of their damage ratios too?

You're basically asking for a better variety of items in the Tank niche.
