That's just not true. Supports continue to have huge impact. Junglers like Kha'zix can easily decide games and remain one of the most reliable ways to climb. Akali is one example of a non-tank toplaner that can easily carry games, even in Challenger.

Its actually awful for ADCs too. About 50% of the time you'll get an absolutely useless Support and not be able to do anything as you lose Tier 1 and then have to farm for the next 20+ mins to catch up. And its "always" the "bad ADC" comments from your team.

Also, there's never a proper frontline (or there is only 33% of the time).

This means that you'll be fighting pretty powerlessly in most of your games.

Now take Mid by contrast... you have near complete agency over your own lane. For the first 15 mins of the game you're the boss with the most firepower. Its way more fun.
