Stop picking Yasuo into everything and on any situation...
...even when picking Yasuo is clearly a bad idea.
Today I got into a ranked game where the enemy firstpicked
. This is one of the biggest mistakes that one can make, because Yasuo is easy to counter. I picked
and stomped the enemy Yasuo, and managed to snowball and win.
On the next battle, that same Yasuo that was on the enemy team was on my team. I sucessfully convinced the first pick to ban Yasuo, and this player started to insult me due to this. I've already realized that he was toxic so I just muted him when the game started. We won.
I was going to play a third ranked game. Once again I tried to convince the first pick on my team to ban Yasuo, but this time, I failed. Fortunately he picked Darius instead. Then the enemy team firstpicked Fizz. And guess which champion the second pick on my team picked... Yasuo! Even though Yasuo is hard countered by Fizz, and even though we already had an AD top laner. Worse yet, my jungler decided to pick Ekko (a champion that does not have any knockups). Due to this fact and the fact that I couldn't get neither top nor mid (my best lanes) I decided to dodge. It is better to lose 10 LPs than to lose 20.
This experience on ranked games today led me to confirm something that I already knew: People do not know when it is the best time to pick Yasuo. Maybe that's why people on the boards complain so much. Most players just want to play him to have fun, because he can supposedly carry a game alone, etc. This is not a problem in normal games, where you can pick anything you want. But on ranked game you MUST play to win. And Yasuo is usually not the best pick to win unless your team can support him properly (with knockups, and to supplement his lack of magic damage). Also, you must make sure that the enemy didn't picked any counters to him, because while Yasuo can counter most mages, he can also be easily countered himself. People don't understand this, though, they just want to instalock him because "lel he is open, let's pick him and win".
That's why most of time I ban Yasuo. Not because he is OP (though I find him to be OP with the recent changes to masteries and items). But because I don't want to risk someone on my team picking him and ruin the entire game.
Also, one last thing: If the first player on your team picked Yasuo, at least try to support him. Try to pick champions with knockups, preferably ones that can deal magic damage, such as Malphite, Cho'Gath, Lulu, etc.
