For every lame excuse you nerfed Sona for, it can be applied to most tank supports right now

Oppressive - sure is fun being effortlessly zoned by a Leona in a brush, wanna ward it, well fuck you, get stunned for 3 seconds and take insane damage

Does too well against champs they counter - it's currently suicide to pick a squishy support against a tank support who knows what they are doing

Elbowing out other support options - queue for solo queue, tank support vs tank support, queue again, tank support vs tank support, and again, tank support vs tank support

So much damage - Meanwhile Tahm gets bundles of extra damage just for leveling up his ult, every tank support is loaded with insane amounts of damage with the exception of Alistair, what's the point of supports designed for poke when you can just all in someone with a tank support and take them out at 100% hp?

POPULAR! - LOL Thresh top picked support for 2 years in a row with no signs of stopping being the penultimate support

I hate the bais you have on the support role Riot, anyone not interested in playing tank supports gets shafted, yeah AP and utility supports can be decent, but never allowed to be as good as their tanky favorites.

Play Janna or Nami, and you can laugh in Tank supports faces for the rest of the game. Unfortunately stale support meta's aren't fun, but if you want to do something a little different at least these two ruin their gameplan.

Edit: Also, Sona is actually supposed to counter tank supports. it's because tank supports are popular and everyone wanted to QQ that she got nerfed, not because she was too powerful or oppressive. She was meant to win against all in champs by chipping their health away during the first few levels so that they simply didn't have the option of engaging. But Relic shield's way too powerful, and Sona got shafted because people enjoyed leona/thresh more than her.

Nami and Janna are great peelers, Nami has fallen out of favor and Janna received her 60th nerf a few patches ago It's not the playstyle i can agree on playing them, but I will admit they fare better then Sona in this meta

Somewhat true, she was supposed to be a good pick into non healing supports, not necessarily tank supports, it's kinda of the reason for poke supports, her safety in harassment got nerfed hard in the rework since the Q bolts damage deal such little damage now and the main source comes from the following autoattack, getting into autoattack range vs a good tank support is again...suicide for Sona no matter how good you are, you can't prevent a 100% all in while cced when you have such little base health and actually do you job and poke

Nami's recent buff though seemingly innocuous has recently made her a peeling god. the movespeed on her ult makes it finally have an engage purpose in that it's similar to Talisman and combined with it will allow your entire team to very quickly engage an enemy. Even if she doesn't hit the enemies they'll scatter and it'll be easy to turn the tides of a fight.

Sona was never meant to be a poking support, she's something of a jack of all trades, with a little bit of everything. It's more that she could q so often and hit targets that she could naturally control tankier champs by keeping them too low to engage. however, since people liked active lanes better, her preventative style of play was nerfed hard, and those champs who had no recovery gained a huge buff in an item to regenerate even when poked down. Honestly if they made it that consuming charges on the AP support item returned 5 mana to it's user, it'd be a shoe in for balancing support meta once again.

How has Nami fallen out of favor? She's a better Sona, and with the reintroduction of Zeke's, she's pretty solid.

0% pick/ban at worlds is a good sign

The problem with Tank supports is item 3302. That's basically it: the absurd amount of sustain it gives pushes everything else out.

But for reference, Sona was absurd when she got nerfed. I had like a 40-9 win ratio with her in ranked because she would just automatically win her lane at level 1 by half healthing the enemy ADC or support. Like, it was rare for me to not force at least one of my lane opponents to recall before level 4.

Man what a weak champion. Over 50% win rate for people who have 1-5 games on her, and over 51% total. Needs a lot of buffs to compete with the tank supports, most of whom she outperforms in terms of win rate.

As you can see from the top ten win rates, tank supports are way too strong. I mean, there's a whole four of them in there! nerfplz

Go Soraka against Leona... trade twice, heal your adc back and Leona can't go in anymore.

RedCyclone2 votes

All while their adc farms uncontested

LankPants2 votes

Any good Leona just kills Raka since she has to kill herself in order to heal.

FakeGravity1 votes

Sure like if soraka was going to move that far forward rather stay back If enemies can engage on soraka she die but if their only target is the adc better be ready to kill it twice and under a silence

The trick is to trade with soraka knowing that because of the heals you always win trades that don't end on dead

This works reversed in that any good Soraka will stay away from Leona and if she dives the carry, Silence aoe where she lands, heal damage, and hit her for some decent damage and maybe a slow.

I've played Soraka against Leona and it is actually a skill match up, not a champion matchup. I have won plenty of lanes as Soraka against Leona.

Pretty much this.

When I want to play LoL with Soraka or Sona I suddenly lost interest and decide not to play the game just because I always remember that I have to face tank supports every matches or remember how I got killed under those helpless turrets when enemy jungler gank...
