PSA: If you died early, play safe.

The Deckowner··33 votes·2,149 views

If you died early, it means your enemy is probably 2 levels ahead of you, half of a item ahead of you, and having higher stat than you. A lot of people in my elo don't seem to understand how to play safe, so I wrote this post to help people in my Elo.

what you should do is: 1.Avoid any kind of trade 2.Only go for last hit when enemy is not in position to take advantage of it, value of 1 cs<1/4 of your hp gone. 3.Ward, when you are weak you might seem like a easy gank to the enemy jg. 4.Build defensively, don't listen to any of the "semi-defensive" bullshit when you are behind, any armor/mr early game makes a huge difference. 5.Don't push the wave unless the enemy backed, pushing the wave will put you far from the safe zone(your tower). 6.If enemy team tried to tower dive ask for help from your teammate, if they aren't in position to help you then back off to your second tower. Since you probably won't survive the tower dive why not just give up the tower because they can still take it after killing you anyways.

What you shouldn't do is: 1.Go for poke/harass/trade: wasting the cd of any of your ability on unnecessary trade will result in your disadvantage. 2.Overextend: your enemy might let you push a wave or two for free, they just want you far away from the tower, don't take the bait. 3.Build full dmg: unless you are some extreme cases(Yasuo ) where building defensive items are just flat out meaningless, you shouldn't go for full dmg items because your enemy will for sure out damage you.item 3155 item 3001 item 3025 item 3191 are good semi defensive items to get. 4.Don't redo what you did before that caused your death: either tower diving, taking too much minion agro, not warding, over commit when enemy has ignite and u dont, etc. If this caused your death last time repeating it will only cause another 5. leaving it blank for now.

Feel free to add more tips in the comment.

PSA: If you die early, play safe.

Riven No, go fuck yourself.

Dives level 6 Garen while being level 4

Garen FOR THE CAUSE! http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/c/ce/Demacian_Justice.png/revision/latest?cb=20150805044628

Riven /all Fucking bullshit no skill champion, fucking useless jungler. AFK!

The Deckowner4 votes

doesnt take much effort for a riven to afk, they have the highest afk rate.

HayRoss3 votes

To be fair, Garen is arguably the easiest champion in the game

Another fine candidate for easiest champion

No. Incredibly limited by mobility and will lose most 1v1 matchups.

Xin is ridiculously easy.

and an overloaded kit too with free stats. literally. free MR and Armor. and damage reduction active and MS boost.

IcyPepper13 votes

The complaint about free stats was fine, but

and damage reduction active and MS boost.

You're literally just saying what his abilities do. I mean, come on, is Garen not allowed to have spells either? I could complain about Riven having four dashes, but that's half of her spells right there.

If you think Garen is overloaded, you haven't seen half the champions in the game.

Well, as some say, always camp riven lane. She might go afk and turn the game into 5v4.

Autrah Fang3 votes

but... but... that goes against the build-full-damage-and-blindly-dive-face-first-into-the-enemy-even-though-they-are-obviously-going-to-win-and-get-fed strategy!

how else are they going to blame the jungler? they need their enemy laner to be 8/0 by 15 minutes in order to have a good excuse for the jungler (and not them) being bad!

The Deckowner1 votes

some people hate surrendering so bad they so they fed the wnemy so hard that their team cant even survive to the surrender mark!

MXXXXXL2 votes

If you're in Bronze/Silver/Low Gold this list should appear as a reminder right before you jump into a matchmaking as a pop up every time until you rank up, or some timer counts the amount of time you spend in range of your tower before 20 minutes while being atleast 1 kill behind in all your games and at some point after some goal is reached.

The Deckowner5 votes

they should add this to the "did you know" thing in the loading screen.

High51 votes

Riot should teach people how to properly play the game so this doesn't have to be restated for every new 30.

Sakura Mirage2 votes

Playing safe isn't always an option in most cases just saying just be less aggressive would be a better way of putting it.

The Deckowner2 votes

it will be better to miss a wave of cs instead of getting killed then still lose most of it.

staying in turret cankeep u safe for at least pre6.

Retillin2 votes

But Riot built in more "comeback" tools in pre-season! Pushing minions, limiting vision, extra gold game for team and ambient.

The Deckowner3 votes

ikr! and the killer will also get half of a level exp and thirdty seconds of free farm!

ahferroin71 votes

Um, limiting vision actually penalizes the team that's behind, because they can't farm as safely.

Retillin1 votes

Sorry, my post was sarcasm.

PSA: tower dives are easy to pull off. Playing safe is bullshit if you have a dumbass jgler who won't pressure your lane.

The Deckowner8 votes

dont balme the jg for your lost lane

ahferroin72 votes

Add to the don't do list: Don't do the same thing that just got you killed.

The Deckowner1 votes

^will do

Dengeden1 votes

It's usually the botlane that feeds 10 kills so buying defensively is pretty meh advice. The best you can do there is double Doran's or boots (or Gauntlet/Hextrinker/QSS in some cases). (An early LS item usually won't do much.)

My 2c:

  1. Make sure you don't get towerdove. You're weak and have minimal wave control, a juicy target. In most cases this means you make sure the enemy can't stack minion waves.
  2. On that note, if you think you're about to get dove, ask for help. Pinging whoever is ganking you or saying who it is in chat makes help slightly more likely. _[e.g UnluckyFuck (you): Kha'Zix] _
  3. Do a jungle camp if you're getting denied or are too out in the open.
  4. Don't get baited, if an enemy used all their CDs for no reason or lined themselves up for your combo, you might not be alone.
The Deckowner1 votes

i think retreating to the second tower is a good response to towerdive too, i have seen so many bot lanes wont give up the tier1 tower against a 5 man dive. if the enemy wasted all these resources in bot tower then mid and top can get very easy tower/riftherld.

Dengeden1 votes

As long as you don't lose 3 minion waves for it. But you're right, if you're getting outnumbered by more than 1 person, time to gtfo.

The Deckowner1 votes

if u know u are gonna die then even if u stayed u still would have missed the minion right?

burritomomo1 votes

I've seen it too often where someone will die in lane early, then go back in lane and try to trade with the person again with the same result. Then just saying in all chat "gg"

The Deckowner1 votes

and more often say stuff like /all stupid jungler useless ggafk

Silver Fluffenbu1 votes

should 't go for poke? Avoid ANY kind of trade? If I see the enemy laner going for a cannon minion, hell yes I'm going to use that cannon minion as a trade for poke damage.

The Deckowner1 votes

and the moment you got too close talon blinks behind you and burn half ur hp.

I am not saying dont do anything, just dont take the risk to poke when the enemy has any method of trading back because even when the trade should be ur favourite it will turn to your enemy's because they are ahead.

Silver Fluffenbu1 votes

that game talon blinks behind me. I expect it and let him hit me. I trade half my hp to land hard cc and heavy burst damage. At the same time, he tanks his exp and item advantage on minion damage while I do not.

There's also the risk of allowing the enemy to not take risks as they safely farm to widen the cs advantage and maintain lane control to roam.

The Deckowner1 votes

a good talon can get the e+aa+q combo in the blink of an eye and will beon his way to retreat as he sends his w in air. also talon's e puts him behind u, if ur cx isnt point and click then its very likely you will miss.

dispike all those gameplay stuff, if the enemy can 1v1 and kill you early then they either have very strong early game or hey have better mechanics than you, it's usually wise to aoid trades for most the part.

allowing enemy to have a few minute of uncontested farm is better than giving up kills right? at least you are still able to get most the cs. it also gives the enemy a false sense of safety that they will likely overextend and it will be easy for ur jg to gank.

Possible entrant for 4- "Don't make the same mistake again." Did you underestimate Zed's shadow range? Walk into a Morgana snare? Stayed in Ekko's circle of f**k-you?

If you died to get behind you were outplayed or you did something wrong, learn from it and grow. I've seen far too many players die and then do the exact same thing hoping to get different results. Khazix Adapt Chogath Grow Viktor Evolve Jax Win

The Deckowner1 votes

^i will add it once i got on my pc.

Kaioko1 votes

That's not always wise - let's say you died early because top got ganked and you (Renekton) died to the Nasus. I wouldn't simply let the Nasus farm his Q for the next 15 minutes especially as an early game bully like Renekton.

ahferroin72 votes

Fighting Nasus or Sion (or even Veigar) is an exception to this. Most of the time, this is the best strategy.

The Deckowner1 votes

extreme cases shouldn't count as a mistake in a general guide, i can't possibly consider every match up in every situations inside one post.

if only people like Leblanc had blinks and the ability to kill you before you are able to cast or cash on summoner 3

it isnt actually a blink but a dash, u can at least see it coming.

and lb's lv1 is very bad since she usually shart q, harass her at lv1 so u have some hp advantages.

40% dmg reduction is always useful(^_^)

good luck in yolo queue bro.

you can see it? i see it as an instant blink

how is that useful vs a champ that deletes you in one sweep ?

good luck in yolo queue bro.

But adcs don't build defense...

The Deckowner1 votes

get second doran instead of longsword for extra sustain and hp, which can be counted as defense.

KirbyCake1 votes

lol how do you play safe when minions get pushed to your turret and you are free food for a 2 v 1 turret dive, just leave the turret and lose 3+ minion waves?

The Deckowner1 votes

the best possible way out of this is fight the 1v2 try kite them around the turret, whoever is taking tower agro, and ask ur jg/mid to help u cover/clean up
