[Mini-Rework] Skarner, the Crystal Vanguard

I had made a thread a few days ago posing the concept of Skarner's passive being more like Bard's instead of Dominion Lite. I think Bard's passive does the whole "reward for roaming" thing better than introducing capture points, personally.

Plus, it fits him very well thematically. He roams the world/map, recovering the namestones of his kin, and becoming more confident and stronger with each one he finds.

I kinda want the opinions of Skarner players on it. Though I don't play Skarner myself, I do like fiddling with numbers and thematic concepts.

Passive: Legacy of the Brackern

Namestones - Skarner will periodically call out to his brackern brethren, marking their locations as smalll namestones across the map. Retrieving a namestone grants Skarner a stack of Dreamsong and restores 7% of his Maximum Mana.

Crystal Vanguard - Whenever Skarner gains stacks of Dreamsong, he gains a burst of Movement Speed and Attack Speed for 4 seconds. He also gains these bonuses for the duration that any enemy is stunned or suppressed by his abilities.

Bonus Movement Speed: 20 / 23 / 26 / 29 / 32 / 35% Bonus Attack Speed: 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80% Scaling at Levels: 1 / 4 / 7 / 10 / 13 / 16

/-/-/

Q: Crystal Slash

Range: 350 Cost: 15 Mana Cooldown: 3

Active: Skarner performs a gilded slash with his pincers, dealing Physical Damage to all enemies within range.

Physical Damage: 33 / 36 / 39 / 42 / 45% AD

If Skarner damages an enemy with Crystal Slash, he becomes charged for the next 4 seconds, during which subsequent Crystal Slashes deal bonus Magic Damage.

Bonus Magic Damage: # of Dreamsong Stacks (+30% AD) (+30% AP)

Basic attacks reduce Crystal Slash's cooldown by 0.5 seconds.

W: Crystalline Exoskeleton

Cost: 60 Mana Cooldown: 13 / 12.5 / 12 / 11.5 / 11

Active: Skarner shields himself for up to 6 seconds, granting himself bonus Movement Speed that ramps up over 3 seconds while the shield holds.

Shield Strength: (3 x # of Dreamsong Stacks) (+ 8 / 9 / 10 / 11 / 12% Max Health) (+80% AP)

Initial Movement Speed: 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 Maximum Movement Speed: 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 / 90

/-/-/

E: Crystallize

Range: 1000 Cost: 55 Mana Cooldown: 14 / 13.25 / 12.5 / 11.75 / 11

Active: Skarner releases a crystalline blast forward in a line that deals Magic Damage to enemies it passes through and Slowing them by 30% for 2.5 seconds.

Enemies damaged by Crystallize are laced with Crystal Venom, which after a 2.5 second circulation time will Stun them for 1 second. Skarner can speed up the venom's circulation in his target by 0.25 seconds using his basic attacks, or instantly trigger the stun by using a charged Crystal Slash.

Against enemies stunned by Crystallize, Skarner's basic attacks deal the same Magic Damage as bonus damage on-hit.

Magic Damage: 35 / 50 / 65 / 80 / 95 (+15% AP)

/-/-/

R: Impale

Range: 350 Cost: 100 Mana Cooldown: 120 / 100 / 80

Active: Skarner rears his stinger before skewering his target, briefly rooting them and dealing (60% AD) Physical Damage plus bonus Magic Damage.

Magic Damage: 25 / 50 / 75 (+50% AP)

The target is then suppressed for 1.75 seconds, during which Skarner can freely move and drag his victim around, but cannot attack them.

At the end of the suppression, the target is dealt Impale's initial damage again.

Total Damage: 120% AD Physical + 50 / 100 / 150 (+100% AP) Magic

Interesting concept. I'm not a big Skarner player but I do play him jungle on occasion and he was the first champion I ever played so I feel a strange connection of sorts with him.

Let me start by saying my ideas might be more of a full rework then a mini one.

Numbers wise I have to look up his damage to calculate how much this new passive would do with your idea. That being said how often would these stones spawn? Would there be multiple at a time like bard or would it be more similar to Kindreds passive where there's 1 on the map then once you get it another will appear.

I do think Skarners passive needs a rework as it is kind of awkward to play around but I'm not quite sure the bard passive is quite the way to go. I've always imagined that maybe it could be similar to Elises spiderlings. In Skarners lore his people entered hibernation, and he's just the first of them to wake up, so he protects them. What if there was something similar to the current totems, but spawned randomly around the map, and when he activated it he wakes up a temporary follower of his kind to follow him for a duration? Then maybe have his skills cooperate with his follower similar to how Mordekaiser can use his W on his team and minions.

The next idea which is for his ult is similar in some ways to your new idea of his E, that being said I dont know what his E would be changed to, perhaps something similar to what I just mentioned about it helping him or his ally.

For his ult i like where you're going and came up with another idea. What if it was a short ranged skill shot similar to Yasuos Q, it has an induction even if its small so can be dodged. First it'll poison the enemy, slowing their movespeed to 0% over a period of... 4-5 seconds? Then once it hits 0 they crystalize and are untargetable by anyone but skarner for a period of time. Skarner can then AA them, bursting the crystalization for additional damage (similar to Sejuanis new reworked E) or he can reactivate his ult which allows him to drag them around for the remaining duration of the CC.

I kinda like the fantasy of something being poisoned, then found later to be finished. Like if a hunter poisoned an arrow and shot a deer. It wouldn't die instantly. The poison would work it's way slowly through the body then the hunter would come finish it off once it's weak. Skarner

Also, I just winged it with the numbers. They make the concept feel more complete, but at the same time blindly tossing numbers doesn't accomplish a lot.

I was also wondering if any Bard players would be able to tell me how many chimes you can average at different points in the game. It might be easier to eyeball numbers knowing that.
