Here's how Riot should balance ADCs (both melee and ranged)

Instead of making every melee carry extremely binary and frustrating to play against (Tryn, Yasuo, Fiora, etc), make melee carries the ONLY auto-attackers with steroids of any kind (Yi, Jax, Irelia, etc).

At the same time, instead of giving every single ranged ADC absurdly valued steroids, give them absolutely no offensive steroids as a trade-off for the safety of range. Give them tools to kite/outplay instead, as that's the main reason you should be taking a ranged ADC over a melee one.

the only way to fix this melee /ranged thing is to either reduce marskmen damage output and crit damage compared to melee.

example. marxmen autos do only 75% of their ad compared to 100% for melee.s

either that. or remove perfect kiting mechanic.

Or don't let crit+lifesteal stack, like any other game.

Or don't let multiple instances of crit stack.

Or don't let multiple instances of lifesteal stack.

Or don't give ranged the tools to deal with melee AND massive steroids, as suggested in OP.

We both know Riot will never do anything about the first three.

If Riot removed ranged steroids, it would be a significant damage cut to most of them, FYI.

Instead of making melee overbearing and overloaded as fuck, which Riot has a habit of doing, then can save all steroids specifically for them so they're distinct from marksmen in a very specific way that has plenty of freedom.

Tbh a bunch of ranged champions have access to too much selfpeel. They should be at least slightly dependent on their team to protect them.

The issue is that they have self-peel, range, and massive steroids.

If a champion just has two of the three, they can be balanced easily.

Riot gives them all three, and this gives them a massive power advantage over anything that hopes to compete with their position (carry) in the game. Riot's always been too stupid to address this.

Riot doesn't know how to make good (balanced) ranged OR melee ADCs, so differentiating them kit-wise is the best way to go. A blatant damage nerf like the other guys suggested means ADC items have to be overloaded for ranged to ever be worth taking...in which case melee ADCs would be standard and completely destroy them... meaning ranged would never be worth taking.
