That's not carrying, that's supporting.

They're winning, but not carrying.

You still need to rely on the carry to do the function of their role, which is being the carry. Thus, you aren't carrying.

You can be the reason your team wins, but that's not literally carrying. It may be your definition, but it's not the real definition.

Look at it simply - do as well as you want on Janna - it's 25 min and the enemy team won't surrender. You're doing such a great job, you're 10/0/50, and your adc is 50/6/2. Total kills are 60 to 17.

Now your team gets a choice: either you or your adc will get ddos'd.

Who do you think they're going to pick? If Janna is taken out of the game your 50 kill adc is going to have no problem carrying the 4v5. If your adc is out of the game you've just lost (assuming you're not already on the nexus towers or someone else isn't fed too).

Simply put - Janna may be the sole reason her adc is so fed, she may be making clutch plays over and over and making the game a breeze for her team - but she's making it easy for them to carry, she's not carrying. If the carry she's spent the whole game getting fed randomly isn't there to carry anymore, all her work is wasted. She's not going to be able to pick up the reins and finish it on her own.

that is in elos where you can afford to let someone else go mid or top.

I am a support and mid player, and if i dont mid or play jungle to make sure my midlaner doesnt feed/gets fed, I can basically never support because even if i do get a decent ADC, and can get them ahead, my midlaner will do poorly and it wont matter.
