The main reason I want Vayne Reworked: (A Support's Plea)

SaltyToplaneGoat··3 votes·342 views

It's not her type of damage, that's maybe a problem but that's not it.

It's not that her kit has the depth of a puddle and is all-out on damage. That's an issue too, but then again not the main reason.

It's her playerbase. Can we PLEASE make her less about 1vs5'ing teams and more about prolonged teamfights? You know, her niche she was supposed to have? Because then maybe, maybe the players will be less toxic. Seirously, just had it today. Mind you, we were winning, I was the support (Taric , ofc in Pink). I get one kill by accident (I wanted to stun the Jinx to make sure Vayne doesn't die). And suddenly she starst screaming "KS KS Taric steals all my kills!",

And then I look at my assists.

And then at the number of kills that was way. WAY smaller. I had given more than 80% of my potential kills to the team.

And now an accidental KS that had the intention to save her life causes her to threaten to afk, goe on tilt, go into brainless chasing, etc etc. In the end it is only thanks to the enemies stupidity that we won.

Do you have any idea how stressfull this is for supports? I had to follow her the entire game on foot JUST to make sure she just wasn't doing something stupid again. And what's the thanks for saving her live, stunning her enemies and healing her? Even more flame. THIS IS WHY NO ONE WANTS TO SUPPORT.

Seriously Riot, fix that please.

Yeah that's broadly an issue with carry mentalities, not specific champs. Damage tops, some mids, and most adcs are prone to feel like they need to solo hard carry, and they think in order to do that they need all the kills. I've seen people in the former groups rage that the adc took kills from them >.>

Never mind that assist gold/xp is a thing and you'll get a bunch of gold/xp advantage during the time you can farm while they're dead anyway, to say nothing of any objectives you might get.

Generally a champ being able to really solo-carry by design (and not just when 15 kills ahead) seems kinda flawed in a team oriented game...

I don't think they're designed to solo carry, they just have a kit where certain exceptionally talented players have shown it's possible to do so. I don't think vaynes kit is anywhere near alone in this regard though.

Vayne doesn't actually have any bonuses for being solo, in contrast to someone like irelia who actually gets more tenacity for going ham in outnumbered fights. The idea is (and often should be) that people might want to play protect the vayne in a 5v5 rather than 4 people doing whatever and the vayne 1v5, it's just the potential for those sweet outplay pentakill moments make people crazy.

Vaynespotting is a thing not so much due to vaynes kit, but because many vayne players think they're gosu. Plenty of similar stereotypes around stuff like riven too, but realistically even adcs like ashe (who isn't known for being a solo carry and instead is literally the first champ most people ever play) can do some pretty crazy kiting outplays in the right hands.

They can't fix how people act.

They can.

Some years ago they did a study on what mains were getting the most punishments (aka bans and restricts.) Strangely, Master Yi was number one. With a MASSIVE lead. The others were some assassins and some hypercarries. Supports for some reason were dead last in that ranking.

So somehow a playstyle must influence how people act, right? How they go about the game in general and all.

The trick of game design is manipulating how people behave. That's like, the entire thing of it ^^

I'd say times have changed since the game has gotten larger compared to before. This basically means we'd have many teens, incredibly annoying teens, such as myself, that come to this game. So, we get more immaturity because we can be pretty toxic online since a lot of teens do not know show much respect online. Basically, I don't believe it's due to roles they play, but for the higher levels of immaturity.

I still mostly believe it's an over-generalization because the top toxic ones that you mentioned, are the ones that usually get higher play rates since we all know everyone loves assassins and hypercarries, especially in lower elo where everyone can be incredibly toxic. Plus, Yi is the king of low elo due to his low skill floor. So, if a champ that many play in low elo, happens to be higher in toxicity, I'm not that surprised since people in low elo are usually the younger people since most of them do not have a good grasp of the game yet. And we all know young people are usually quite immature so, that's probably where the toxicity comes from.

If you've watched any decent Vayne players, you'd know that she needs skill. It's not Riot's fault that some Vayne players can't handle their shit - and no, it's not that Vayne players are often toxic; from my experiences, they are actually nicer in general.

SaltyToplaneGoat1 votes

The Vayne I had in my last match was more than decent. That player was a beast I tell ya.

BUT holy shit was that a toxic player. And exactly toxic like the "typical vayne player" I've come to hate in the 5 years I play this game.

Somehow this barely happens on other adcs tho. It's mostly the vayne players. Heck, the fact that we got a phrase called "vaynespotting" should make this more than obvious.

Champions don't make toxic players. Toxic players may be drawn to a champion based on the perception of their high skillcap or ability to make insane plays.

Vayne isn't baby's first adc.

But that doesn't stop scrubs from playing her.
