Sion was a lot of fun, had no place in modern matches, but i'll miss people under estimating his Stun+shield combo as AP, a lot of jungles died from over zealous turret dives that way.

You can. They retained his health stacking passive. Arguably it's even easier to farm HP with him now.

Poor ap Sion. Riot needs to start putting more focus on niche stuff. (They also really need to stop focusing on the LCS.)

1: Riot doesn't just focus on the LCS or what's popular. If they did, Sion wouldn't have received an update in the first place.

2: There is a reason why Sion's skills scaled off of AP, and it has nothing to do with some sort of ingenious design.

Next time you have a chance, go look this up on the wiki. All the first generation of champions and possibly for plenty of them thereafter, ALL champions' skills scaled off of AP; Warwick, Tristana, Sion, Alistar, Master Yi, even Sivir, who is one of the few pure ADs in the game. Riot's early game design was much more binary; attack damage only affected basic attacks, and all skills were only affected by ability power. Master Yi didn't get his ratio changes until his visual update, Sivir had hers changed a long time ago, Sion was obviously just addressed, and the rest Riot hasn't gotten to yet.

Not only did everyone's skills scale off of AP, but they also had (and some still have... Tristana) retardedly high AP ratios. Master Yi was an especially big offender with his healing, which had an AP scaling of 2.0.

ap scaling had 4.0 on meditate before they nerfed it

I know they all used to have an ap scaling. I know it was not some ingenious design but rather a huge failure of a design. I was ranting about how champions viability is now more determined by what they can not do rather than what they can do.

Champion kits are currently very over loaded. Rather than being very strong at one thing they now have a bunch of stuff everywhere.
