What's the point in ranked?

I've climbed to gold on 2 accounts, and on both I see no reason to play. All I run into is smurfs, toxic people, and people who will just "buy another elo boost". I've heard about challenger players smurfing but now there's smurfs down here because of a trickle effect. Riot, can you finally admit your system is wrong and broken? I'm really sick of fighting smurfs on broken champs, in a game that's not fun anymore. I'm actually considering getting DOTA, the game that I always thought looked so ugly/goofy it turned me off.

Then leave. There is NO WAY to really stop smurfs. Riot has told us this before, and they said they wish they could prevent it, and they try to stop it, but it's hard. Toxic players are apart of all games tbh, and sometimes I see it encouraged. "Please report this person for xxx" "I'll make sure to honor him"... There will always be a champion that is broken. Each champ is made to counter another and serve a different person. You weaken one, the counter becomes that much strong. You nerf the counter, their counter becomes strong, the champ they countered gets stronger as well.

All I can say is only YOU can make the game fun. Play with friends, mute people, listen to music and just have a good time.

EDIT: You also say you got 2 accounts to Gold, which means at some point in time you were playing at an elo you knew you were better than, which at the end of the day is... smurfing.

Except the large influx is due to people in high elo hating how DQ works. It trickles down. Why would a diamond want to play vs a challenger? Why not smurf in plat? Why would a plat want to fight diamonds? Why not smurf in gold? See how it goes? And Riot's report system DOES NOT catch and punish toxic people. I had a guy make death threats towards me and he got a 15 game chat restriction? Amazing.

Also I was in silver season 4 and 5, the 2nd account was made because a friend was making a new account so I leveled with him to teach him. Both have hit gold this season after staying around the same elo.
