Suggestion: Tanky Crit item ( 0.25 crit for every 2% missing health up to a maximum)

similar to maw of malmortius As title says: You'd get +0.25 crit for every 2% missing health up to a maximum of 10. (this is what would set it viable for tanky dps champs as opposed to ever seeing a marksman use it). Since the best way to make the most use of it would be by being able to stay alive with low health.

this would be for typically hybrid bruisers like udyr, shen, xin zhao whose spells do not necessarily scale well with ad but rather benefit from applying crits with the attack speed buffs they get from their kits.

I also think this would open up a lot of options when paired with crit runes (this item would be built with crit runes in mind). On a tank about 15-20% crit is pretty fair especially considering they aren't getting more items that would amplify the crits. their crit damage will likely range around 350 dmg while remaining tanky.

A hypothetical build would have guinsoo rageblade on shen as his only dps item, 10 crit from runes (9 marks 1 quint). And this tanky crit item. One possible recipe for the item would have seeker's armguard combined with phage. final item would give 20 ad 25 ap 50 armor 300hp and the two passives. crit and phage movement...

having it pair with phage would make it less cost effective to build it in tandum with trinity force however which could be good or bad.

other champions this item could work well on are gnar, sion, rek sai, jax (anything goes on jax), perhaps on; poppy, nasus, shyvana, gp, warwick, chogath evelyn. I'd say nautilus cause his passive can crit but his attack speed is horrible.

Wouldn't really make sense on a tank, maybe an item that reduced the effect of penetration items the lower your health got, or this

Anybody who scales with Attack speed and Crit chance also scales with AD. Literally 100% of the time.

Also, Crit is not a tank stat, it is a damage multiplier stat, and is therefore only valuable for champions who have damage as a main focus of their build, primarily marksmen and AD assassins.

shen? scales with attack speed and attack speed scales with crit. yet all of shen's spells scale with ap

and on some champions you want to emphasize their ap spells more while still dealing some ad that synergizes with whatever attack speed steroid your kit gives you.

AD AS and crit all scale with each other. The only exception is on someone like kayle whose main damage is on-hit magic damage. But Attack speed and Crit chance are stats designed to multiply the effectiveness of AD. If a champion will benefit from building attack speed, they will also benefit from building attack damage, unless, like Kayle, their main damage comes from on-hit effects. If a champion will benefit from building crit chance, they will always benefit from building AD, no exceptions.

Also, a champion scaling with AD is not the same as a champion having AD ratios. Case in point: Tristana, not a single direct AD ratio but one of the best AD marksmen. To your example, Shen has AP ratios on his abilities, but he scales the best with attack speed and tank stats, not AP.

correct ad ratios do scale with crit. idk where I gave off the vibe that that wasn't the case. I'm comparing kits here. jarvan or riven scales far more with ad than a xinzhao for example who would like to get a mix.

getting some ap on shen is helpful with 0 ap his ult is lackluster. that extra 100 ap can go a long way.

this item is similar to Trinity force which can be build on so many champs except its a bit tankier. I don't see what your getting all riled up.

I'm not mad or anything, I'm just saying that if a champion would want to buy crit chance, they would also want to buy AD, therefore making the premise upon which this item is based incorrect. Not to mention tanks want consistent damage, which AD provides, not variable damage, which crit provides.

k according to you trinity force shouldn't be in the game one of the most beloved items in the game. heresy it has ap on it!!! a little bit of mixed ap ad on an item isn't going to hurt a game in which many champions benefit from both. tanks want consistent damage? they do? that's news to me last I checked tanks are the ones who tend to survive the longest making variable damage favorable. since over time chipping away at the enemy the "variability" becomes less and less.

the only main difference between my item and trinitymforce is it doesn't have sheen proc instead it has a bit more crit and has 100 more HP. just because you crit doesn't mean you can't go semi tank. ever play crit volibear. build trinityforce and either ghostblade or shiv the rest go tank.

you know how much Tryndamere would abuse this?

add a condition solved. runnance hurricane has condition why can't this have one. so many champs now I think conditions need to become more common for this game to stay balance while still innovating
