Why is Vel'koz getting more damage on Q? Who even made this decision?

This change makes absolutely no sense, and I don't think any Vel'koz player can understand why the decision to add more damage to a champion who already has insanely high damage was made.

He has huge problems with his kit being unreliable and having no counterplay against assassins, but his damage was completely fine, especially on Q. This change is going to completely shit on unskilled players who don't have the mechnical skill or reaction times necessary to avoid it (in which case he has significantly less problems), while doing nothing to help Vel'koz function at higher ratings, where most players have fast reaction times and can generally avoid his kit.

What was the thought process behind this?

Are you honestly surprised? I predicted this so I made a post about it. Didn't get many replies though.

To be fair a 0.2 increase to the AP ratio is kind of huge but I agree it's a stupid buff that doesn't make me feel like playing him in this meta.

I'll be in normals spamming dumb bullshit like nunu top until they fix the meta.

With Vel’koz being my favorite champion, I know a few things. One thing is for sure, his Q does not need a buff, if anything his E does. It has too slow of a casting time for the most part. I usually can manage it well but sometimes it can be an inconvenience. Overall this meta is not the best for half of the mage champions. I play Vel’koz Velkoz, Malzahar Malzahar, and Karthus Karthus primarily, and they are more challenging to play nowadays.

You are basically like me those main champs. Well...I just moved on to Zoe. She is the only remaining mage on midlane after all...Even though a load of people complain about her even if they are using yasuo/zed/talon/leblanc.

I completely agree with you. Q is velkoz's best ability. It's the last ability that needed buffing. As I've always said, it's his e that needs buffing. It's THE WORST SKILLSHOT IN THE GAME!!! There's a delay, small AOE dangerous range and all you get out of it is a .75 sec suspension, not even a whole second. Velkoz's damage has always been fine. His issue is he's unreliable at dealing it since his e is so short and his ult lasts a little over 3 TIMES the e suspension duration. I wanted riot to buff his e suspension duration by at least .25 sec from .75 sec to 1 sec.

I'd actually like a response to this. Imo this decision was extremely questionable and shows a clear lack of understanding of both the state of the game and champion.

It's literally someone's job to figure out what the problems keeping these champions' viability down are, and how to appropriately address them; that wasn't done here, and instead the solution was just 'lol tack on more damage!'

Someone should be held accountable for dumb shit like this.
