Jungle is hell because keystones only effect champions.

The mastery system was changed from being a free ball of stats to essentially 29 extremely weak points and one extremely strong keystone mastery. Problem is, none of the keystones help with clearing. There is one keystone that interacts with monsters but it's lategame mastery and it's far weaker than the 2 other options in resolve. Basically, the first clear on any champion that isn't 100% top tier is an absolute nightmare. With the machete/talisman effects being split, if you can't utilize talisman you go OOM immediately, and even then it does little to help junglers who struggle with first/second clear. Powerful ball of stat masteries were replaced with scaling and % masteries or lost effects against non-champions altogether.

By the time you've got your machete upgrade or you've accumulated some health from strength of the ages, you wouldn't even have issues without those at that point.

tl;dr new masteries killed first clear, sometimes even 2nd clear on half the junglers that used to be viable.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Strength of the ages doesn't even restore HP on monsters, only siege minions. You have to kill 30 monsters before this mastery effect is at it's fullest and even then it doesn't benefit junglers.

compared to when the season 5 jg was new this is fucking nothing

I was here for season 5 early jg. It was waaaay easier for top tier junglers like Udyr but similar to how it is now for crappy junglers. They made a lot of lesser junglers viable towards the middle of season 5 and then ruined it all by making masteries useless vs monsters.

right but top tier junglers like udyr aren't even affected by the new keystones because they can clear with their eyes closed. but for junglers that don't have innate sustain or fast clear speeds, early season 5 jg made it literally impossible for them to clear period not just harder like it is now

I really wonder what everyone is doing that people are constantly complaining about the jungle. I take Armor Yellows and Savagery/Tough Skin, the appropriate jungle item for my champion, 3 red sodas and can do a full clear just fine. Just remember to smite Red.

My guess is that everyone that is complaining tries jungling with item 2031 ?

  • Bladed Armor removed
  • Flat Armor from masteries removed
  • Less health regeneration from jungle item
  • The now mandatory of having to get attack speed into your runes somewhere that equate or exceed 10% attack speed
  • Forced to back and buy another jungle item before having to upgrade to next tier

EDIT: oh yeah I forgot

  • Removal of Trail Blazer for sustain, stun and damage

Ok, certain masteries that were really beneficial have been removed. Big deal.

Less HP regen? Dunno, Talisman only gives less if you do Gromp/are absolutely single-target focused. And in that case, why did you start the AoE item?

Why do you need AS in runes?

Again, I don't have any problems doing a full clear on most champions. A full clear gives you enough gold to get the upgraded Smite in one go if you want. Alternatively to the full clear, I can do three camps, grab Scuttles and be healthy enough to gank a lane.

Yeah, I don't really get it either.

While some champions like Kha'zix and Wukong have a fairly weak first clear, I still managed to kill three camps before having to back in custom games (without a leash of any kind). After that, I was able to perform a full clear of my jungle fairly reliably.

Several junglers I have tried have been able to perform full or near-full clears before they backed (even without healing off the Scuttle Crab or receiving a leash), being able to afford the Smite upgrade on their first back.

I carried myself to Gold 5 with a 70% jungle winrate and 5 was my first season. I know the jungle in and out it's just that there are about 5 good junglers right now thanks to the new masteries.
