Why do people think a 51% winrate isn't really strong?

Go back 3 or so years and people were begging for nerfs when champs went above 51% winrate and had more than like a 6% playrate. And those champs pretty often got nerfs.

So why is it now that only absurd playrates or 53%+ winrates are being called out?

Part of the issue with balance now is what's seen as out of line, both from the community's perspective and Riot's.

because there are 150 champs now. so win rates aren't as stable.

Because winrates aren't accurate presentation of a champion's strength.

Because people back then were even dumber, evidently.

51% is slightly over average. 6% pickrate with 51% winrate is actually balanced - Slightly above average winrate with a slightly below average pickrate.

because champions with low win rates collect the most complaints so the metric doesn't matter anymore. see derpkali, ireliderp and derpsuo for examples.

Because winrate isn't a reason to nerf a champions and those people were wrong before and are wrong now.
