Doran's Shield should not be nerfed

Assuming you're constantly harassed, the shield gives 3.2 health per second, 5 bonus physical damage to minions, and 80 health.

Now lets compare that to doran's blade: 80 health (which cancels out with the shield), 3% lifesteal, and 8 ad.

Assuming you have 70 AD, the lifesteal gives 2.1 health per hit. That's about 65% of the health you get doran's shield, but you won't be constantly auto-attacking, so let's assume it gives like 50% of the healing that doran's shield does. However, it also scales much better than the shield. After you get a BF sword (110 total AD) you get 3.3 health per hit -- which is slightly more than the regen from shield (3.2) per second. But then, in addition, it gives 8 ad -- which helps harass, last hit easier, and gives your abilities some scaling.

Now, overall, I would say that puts doran's blade slightly better stat-wise. BUT in the current state, doran's shield gives an additional starting healthpot to compensate. After the nerfs, I fear that doran's shield will just be worse than doran's blade in every way. AGAIN.

It's getting nerfed? I thought it was just going up in price by 50g.

If you're getting poked constantly, you won't be able to auto attack often. And you only need to be poked once every 10 seconds for Doran's Shield to be used to full effect - that's perfect for the in and out CS'ing pattern you wanna use against constant poke.

The only way you could compare the two is on a Cho'Gath, because his passive lets him sustain well enough that he can just auto the minions and sustain from passive + Dshield and take virtually no damage.

So against poke, Dblade will be healing you for about 1 auto per minion if you're lucky and get all the last hits. That's 12.6 health... where you get poked 6 times. Dshield will definitely heal at about 60 health if you're constantly poked. (assuming you're being healed 100% of the time, which means at least 3 times with 10 second intervals).

The way you're comparing them, you'd be auto attacking once for every Dshield regen tick. I don't think you're gonna auto the minions 20 times, which is 2 full Dshield ticks, which when spaced out, is almost certain.

I agree with your train of thought, but there's a flip side.

Doran's Shield pretty much negates the weak early game of non sustain champions. This removes the ability for you to really punish these kinds of champs early in the game.
