Bruisers in the top lane /will/ need drastic nerfs

If you aren't playing a Bruiser or an obnoxious lane bully like Teemo Heimerdinger Jayce , you are going to lose lane, plain and simple.

Tanks are absolute dogshit and have been since the """"tank"""" update that made ADCs so busted

item 3068 item 3065 item 3742 item 3143 resistances got completely gutted, granting only about 81% of their effective health as before the update. item 3071 and item 3035, even with their reduced armor shred, still lowered the effective armor of tanks even more than before since tanks have less health and more armor to shred.

Then runes reforged came along giving offensive characters more than 500 gold worth of AD, AP, or AS as set bonuses while tanks got a measly 380 gold of health.

An entire rune slot on the """"LIVE FOREVER"""" has absolutely survivability to offer: Unflinching gives tenacity but no resistances, Demolish is a purely offensive rune that makes towers even more of a joke, and Font of Life only procs for allies, even then giving a paltry amount of health.

The next rune slot down is a joke too, offering 5 armor or 6 MR in the early game when quints and red runes gave up to 18 of it previously.

Nothing exists in place of Fearless's protection against burst and poke, with the closest being a keystone that only characters with hard CC can proc, and which is arguably weaker than the previous Courage of the Clossus, merely granting extra resistances to block some damage instead of the shield that blocked damage entirely.

Nothing exists in place of Siegemaster to protect from dives and farm under tower more safely in a hard matchup (Read: Against bruisers that remove a quarter of a tank's health before the tank has 4-5 items)

Nothing exists in place of Legendary Guardian (The worse of its slot compared to the extra tenacity), which granted 3 bonus resistacnes outright for solo laners, 6 when ganked or in duo lanes, and 9 when ganked IN a duo lane.

Tanks are fine in the jungle and support role, because they're either playing PvE or have support items to act as human shield for the ADC all game, but are absolute shit up top, with only one tank spotted in the top 5 of several different league analytic sites at several different levels of play -- Sion.

Even the most obnoxious tanks right now- Rammus Ornn Maokai -- barely perform in the top, and only one of them performs well at all, being Rammus Jungle.

Meanwhile not only are bruisers and juggernauts the ones winning overall more games top, they also nearly ALWAYS win lane because tanks are absolutely fucking worthless until a late game that never arrives

Camille Illaoi Olaf Jayce Gangplank Nasus Kayle

All in the top ten top laners, so remind me how fighters are getting the short straw?

Oh, no, I get it, fighters in the jungle are doing pretty fucking poor right now. "Divers" specifically, the ones that should be making plays and ganks getting lanes ahead.

Well, they're struggling in the jungle as long as you ignore XinZhao Udyr Warwick Shyvana Jax MonkeyKing JarvanIV Rengar and Kayn making up the top half of junglers. But still, that IS only 10 out of the 19 junglers that make up that upper half. The other 9 being tanks -- Rammus Sejuani -- assassins -- Evelynn Nidalee Shaco Elise -- and these two jokers -- Ivern Kindred

The only time tanks are winning toplane is when the enemy team doesn't have a tank jungle or support. That is, tanks only do well top when they have no competition that's doing their job better by not being ass blasted by Olaf setting them behind all game.

As soon as you add a tank in the jungle that can PvE farm when behind, or a tank support being the ADC's bitch; as soon as you add either of these to the enemy team, a Tank up top is literally just a liability for the team at the moment.

Stop buffing fighters when they're already dominating lane. The only reason they have a RELATIVELY deflated winrate is because teams are going full damage without anything to soak or cc the opponent in preseason. If fighters keep getting this special treatment, things are going to look very, very bad once s8 starts. If you thought Top was a volatile whiny lane before, wait until it revolves around single mistakes leading to towers falling at 7 minutes in while no one on the team cares because it's so far away from the rest of the group.

I'm not sure we should base balance decisions on the rant of a bronze 3 player when its the opposite of what much higher mmr top laners say.

Maybe balance it on high elo tanks having abysmal winrates over fighters in the top lane :^) :^) :^)

But yup you caught me how dare I be bronze rank and care about the game how fucking dare I. surely nothing I can say is of importance because I'm bronze.

That's nice that you got to fight a bad teemo but unfortunately the results at higher levels of play show the opposite

Tanks do poorly top, well in the jungle, are are vastly over represented supports. The only time tanks can win top is if they don't have a tank to compete against in the better roles on the enemy team.

Some fighters need help, others do not. Stop using "bruiser" to describe champions, it's too wide and covers champions who are fine, champions who are OP, and champions that are UP.

Okay, specifically, Juggernauts and Divers, will end up too strong at this rate. For what it's worth I did switch over mid post to saying fighter instead of bruiser.

That's using the official dubbing by Riot.

Meanwhile, tanks broken down means of the upper half there's three vanguards -- Sion Malphite Maokai, and a single Warden -- TahmKench

In the lower half of top laners,

Vanguards: Ornn Nautilus Galio Wardens: Shen Poppy

So about half the tanks top are in the upper half, and half in the lower half.

Then looking at juggernauts and divers

Upper Juggernauts: Illaoi Nasus Mordekaiser Urgot Darius Divers: Camille Kled Rengar MonkeyKing Pantheon

Lower

Juggernauts: Garen Yorick DrMundo Trundle Divers: Aatrox JarvanIV Renekton

In a balanced state, it would be expected that there would be a close-to-even distribution between the performance of fighters and that of tanks, and while tanks are performing as expected, fighters -- that is again, divers and juggernauts -- are overwhelmingly taking the top spots in the top lane.

Yes, "some" of them could do with buffs from their performance, but the class as a whole is performing much more strongly than would be expected of a class that is supposedly struggling if the community's word was taken. Meanwhile tanks, which the vocal part of the community would have you believe are the bane of the game, are only performing as well, or slightly worse, than they should be. If this were such a "tank meta," I certainly wouldn't expect that to mean more than half the tanks going into the lane historically filled with them are losing.
