Iceborn Gauntlet is an item that needs some sort of change

This item is extremely niche and rarely purchased. Even on champions that this item would be good, this item is outclassed by or .

is like an "halfway" between the two, but unfortunately, the stats that this item gives are inferior (Trinity Force gives more damage and offensive stats, while Frozen Heart has more armor and more CDR, while having only slighty less mana), so most of time it is better to just get both Triforce and Frozen Heart instead of purchasing Iceborn Gauntlet and saving one slot (which will not be a big deal on itself).

Some AP champions can buy Iceborn Gauntlet, but this item is usually outclassed on them by or . Lich Bane gives way more damage and scale better into late game. Zhonya's Hourglass has only slighty less armor, but has much more AP and an useful active. Even if you were to buy this item for the mana and the CDR, and outclass Iceborn Gauntlet on that part, as they give more CDR and are way better for solving mana issues. They also give more AP.

Some suggestions to make this item a better purchase:

1) Make the Spellblade passive do magic damage

Many champions that would buy this are tanks that do magic damage with their skills. Making this item do magic damage would allow them to benefit a lot more from magic penetration (think of items such as Liandry's Torment, which would have fantastic synergy with this item if it did magic damage). Also, on AD champions, this item would allow them to do mixed damage, bypassing the enemy's armor; although most of them would probably stick to Trinity Force. ** 2) Increase the amount of armor this item gives**

Iceborn Gauntlet used to offer 70 armor. I don't know why this was reduced. Reverting this nerf would allow this item to be much more worth purchasing, especially now that most armor items were nerfed.

3) Increase the slow amount on Spellblade

Especially due to recent changes which made slows not stack with each other. Some champions who could buy Iceborn Gauntlet already have slows on their kit, most of time those slows are way stronger, making it pointless to buy Iceborn Gauntlet for the slow.

An idea that I had was to make the Spellblade passive also slow attack speed, but that could potentially be overpowered.
